Man that boss is a keeper I only hope my employees are half as happy with me and in their jobs as you are.

Yup, there's about 15 of us working there but he made sure Jo and I had first crack at it.

His own special version of flood relief!

Somedays it just pays to be a "victim" rofl.gif

I gave the video camera back to our neighbour last night and his son (who does website design, etc) did some editing and put together a video.

There is a couple of places that show our location quite well. I will try to watch the video and post some of the landmarks.

great video! it gives a great perspective of how wide the river now is. Makes me appreciate Duff's Ditch even more.

Yup, it's saving your butt right now Pete!

I love the look on the kids faces at the start of the video. It was even better at the end!!!

Great video Carl. Puts into perspective how much water is out there. Since the flood isn't impacting Winnipeg that much we don't get to see much in the news anymore. Between my basic knowledge of the area and Google maps I was able to follow your path. I think I even picked out your house on your nice island there. I like lake front property, but that's a little too close, and I prefer road access to water access. lol

In the past, there has been some assistance from the province in paying the bill. I never like to count on it but you can be sure I will take if they offer. It's the worst part of the flood and it appears my driveway mess and damage will be a new record. I walked it tonight. The waves have pushed an amazing amount of the rock off the side of the road.  Also the trash (straw etc) appears to be deeper than it's ever been. I've been able to use my small diesel tractor to push it into piles other years but this year I think it will be just too heavy. I may try to rent a 4wd tractor and loader from my wife's cousins who farm close by. Our son works for them part time.

I'm starting to think I may not have road access in time for the Winnipeg swap meet May 15th...

I don't think I posted any pics of the plane ride. For those of you who have been here, this will put it into perspective. The plane is heading southeast from Rosenort towards Morris. We live at the south end of that large clump of trees, pretty well right above the black arrow.

Today I did my best to restore the driveway with the remaining material that has not washed away.

But best of all, tonight I boated in everybody and we will spend Mother's Day together as a family, even if we are island bound. Life is good!

Haha, yup! So far, that pump is resting comfortably and I don't think I will even have to pull the rope on it.Thankfully!

I am hoping to come and we can certainly share space. I have a pile of stuff to bring if I can just get it out of here! I don't have a utility trailer so I might have to put the boat on the trailer and fill the boat with stuff because I don't think I can get it all in the truck.

I should know by Wed or so if we will have a road in time.

YOU BETCHA BUSTER WE GOT A ROAD!!!

Sorry I didn't take more time to elaborate but I had enough time to do that and then had a ton of stuff to do. Had to clean out that filthy truck we were driving after we boated out each day. Tracking in all kinds of sand and gravel with our wet boots. Lots of other stuff to do in the way of shed cleanup, load garbage etc that all was piling up the last 2+ weeks. Still not dry here but just enough road to be able to drive in at least.

It worked out different than other years as far as access. I will elaborate another time, but we are a family once again!
