RE: So who's 70 2+2 is for sale on T.O. kijiji???

Appraisals are in many ways "black magic" or "voodo science" and are always at best "guesstimates".  It is just like the MPAC assessments they do on our houses in Ontario for tax purposes.  There is no way I could get for my house what the government sets it at for tax purposes.  Similarly with "appraisals", I don't think I could get anywhere close to what my vehicles are appraised at in today's market.  The only value they have is if you have a total loss and you have the 19A endorsement on your policy, if you don't have 19A your appraisal is for all and intents and purposes useless and you will only get what the market dictates it is worth at that time, regardless of the investment you may have in it.

And we know how that goes. Next thing it will be a fire sale and none of the serious bidders will have had a chance at them. Seen that before.

It's a real gong show.....Hillar's father asked me to get rid of the Bonneville and the Subaru at his house once the deal to close on November 30 was done.

We all know about the Bonneville and where it went...Victory on that one.

Knowing the issues that existed I told Hillar's father that the only way I would sell the Subuara was if he had the ownership Changed into the Estates's name. I told him what to do and he did it. Since the 1/2 Sister is co-executor so it required two signatures to transfer it.

Once it was done I posted it on Kijiji for $11,750 and I sold as is in a day. The purchaser drove to Toronto, test drove the car wanted it so I took her to the bank, got a certified check for the full asking price paybale to the Estate, did the paperwork for temporary permit and provided the bill of sale etc.. to Hillar's father with the cheque. I then handed the woman my cell phone and had her call her insurance company to put insurance on the car. Once that was done I let her drive the car home.

Next thing I know I am being accused of taking a commission and selling the car too low. Selling that car actually cost me at least a day and out of pocket ecpenses but I did it for Hillar's father.

I know of a classic car that was sold to the deceased's friend since it was a car that he had "always wanted". He got it for a song.

You can guess where this story is leading. It's amazing what can happen when someone is gone and the opportunity for profit arises.

I'd always hoped you'd have a friendly first right of refusal on Hillars cars Ray.

But sadly that doesn't seem to be the case in any way, shape or form.

That was a while ago George I have not had any contact with these people since September 18, 2010. I do talk to Hillar's father and do what I can for him, everything we loved about Hillar came from his Father, a very decent man who is being antagonized far more than me.

Re the Laurentian.  On Friday I made an offer which was accepted, and I'll be travelling to Toronto soon to finalize the transaction.   Dealing with the sellers has been a challenge, and as the saying goes "The opera ain't over until the fat lady sings" so I'm not convinced the car will be in my garage until it's in my garage.

If I read this correctly, there were 2 members wanting the Laurentian? One had an offer sent 10 hours ago and the other was accepted on Friday past.....

I would hope the seller is not using one against the other here!

Good luck Clint, I am glad that it will be in the Canadian Poncho Family. I will not continue to pursue the car, out of respect to your deal/offer as it was prior to mine. It would not be benefit either one of us to get into a bidding frenzy. If your deal goes south, please let me know. Cheers

No offers on the 2+2 last I heard, yesterday morning.

Just to keep things in the clear, the sellers will do whatever they want. Since Clint has announced he has "bought" the car, I will confirm that Clint contacted me on Friday to say a deal had been reached. As we all know deals take some time to finalize.
