I have a 1983 Chevy Malbu 9C1, It came with a 305 V8 and thm 350. We changed it to a 350 V8 out of a wrecked early 1990's 9C1 reworked, the transmission to a built 200r, 3:42 with G80. It's a 4 door, bronze colour, was an unmarked state trooper unit from new. A little hard to hook up, from a dead stop, she's still a handful once rolling, but it will put a big smile on your face and a look of surprise on anyone not paying too close attention. It's a hoot. Love these cars.

I had a 1980 back in mid 90s....funny story, a friend of mine owned the car brand new. Sold it to a used car dealer here in London cause he needed the cash. I sold the car not to long shortly after to another car dealer. And then my friend bought it back. Back in the hands of the orig owner. To this day....it still has orig paint. Fully loaded with buckets console, landau roof. Mine was a 305 and the frame rails had been already done when i owned it. It was nice to drive. These were huge in the 90s because alot of guys were doing the Snote SS from clip, spoiler etc. Now you just dont see them around that much. The guy above wants alot of money for the car. Still needs a dash, carpet, sme interior trim. But it looks like a solid foundation. Attached is a pic of mine and its exactly as it sits to this day. Good luck with whatever you decide.

The four speeds were uncommon but there were a dedicated group who were sure to order the good stuff. Most GM A-bodies offered 4-speeds in 78-79. One road test of a 79 Grand Prix 301 4-speed complained that there was a bit of lurching due to motor mounts. Perhaps being a test car meant it might have been flogged, do you think?

My brothers friend worked at Bud Searles Chevrolet-Oldsmobile in the 80s when a 78 Monte Carlo 305 4-speed was taken in trade. You dont see those every day.

Attached are 2 pictures of a friends car (sold 2 years ago). It is a 78 Malibu Classic with a 4-speed. The 305 was replaced with a 72 Z28 350. It was converted to the MM4 4-speed using stock parts (Saginaw was not very strong). You cant quite see it but there is a 200 km/h sweep speedo from a 9C1 Police Malibu. That was a big deal when the average North American car in 78 had a 140 km/h speedo
