Heater core question...

I've got my heater box out as I've just had my heater core re-cored.  Inside the box there were pieces of old dried out gasket typer material that I chipped out.  (This is where the core meets the inside of the heater box, not where the heater box meets the firewall.)

I'm wondering if it would be wise to use "3M Fire Barrier Water Tight Sealant" calking as a replacement material?  Thoughts are appreciated.

thx

That sounds impressive. I'm eager to know what sealant to use also.

Yeah, it does sound like the ultimate product doesn't it! I'll give "strip caulking" a try. Thanks for the feedback!

I would use rubber sealant as it pulls apart easily for future repairs etc.
