1963 Parisienne Convert in Victoria BC One Owner since June 4 1963 -

I am selling this car for a family friend.

He ordered it in April 1963 at Empress Motors on Fort Street and took posession on June 4.  I have all records since 1963 including new vehicle order form and sales contract.

This gentleman used the car regularly until May 11.

All original 283 2bbl V8, auto. Rare factory options - power seat, tilt steering, seat belts and tinted glass.  Approx. 150,000 miles.

New exhaust, battery, tires and many recent mechanical improvements.  Interior is decent with mint dash pad.   Heres the bad news:  Car is severely rusted.  Needs all new pans, body mounts and braces in floor section and in trunk section.

Asking $4950 obo

One owner car.......sweet. Sad that it's rusted so badly over the years. It certainly doesn't look abused at all!

The car was garaged virtually from day one and very well looked after at Empress motors in Victoria.  Every single piece of correspondence on this car was retained.

The gentleman drove it to my place from Victoria on Wednesday - same owner for 48 years. Unfortunately for this car, the gentleman lived right on the ocean and the car was bombarded with salt air constantly.

We have to be honest with everyone - the car looks great in the pictures and runs and drives well, but unfortunately it is quite rotten.

It needs everything - pans, braces, mounts both in the floor area and trunk. Also bottoms of fenders, doors, quarters have already been repaired some years ago once and are starting to pop through again.  The window frames on the passenger side are also splitting with rust and the rear windows do not function fully because the tracks are full of road debris - yes - its come through holes in the wheel tubs and flung up onto the tracks.  Having said all that - its surprising how much rigidity the car still has.

I've added some shots to this post so people can see the extent of the damage.

Its a very sad situation for this faithful old car indeed, but given the extensive history and the overall originality of the car, we really hope someone will fall in love with the car and restore it.

It's pretty much a given that when an owner has a car for as long as this gentleman has owned his, that a person tends to care a lot about them and look after them well, imo. Unbelievable that even garage kept it would get eaten away as it has. Although this car has sadly rusted away, it has provided us with incredibly valuable information about the potential (problems) issues when purchasing a car that has spent it's life near the beach (wish I could say that). In other words you really gotta look hard when buying beachfront property (cars). Thanks for posting this offering, I will always keep this listing in mind in future purchases if they have spent time near the salt water...........Doug.

Hi Dave J I really appreciate the total honesty and candour with which you have described the car.  You don't see that often.  Its not the car for me  but I really hope soembody here will buy it and relove it, as much work as that will take.

I wouldn't trade our ocean front property for anything. It's amazing! It rejuvinates you at the end of the day. My car could rot away to dust ... it's just a car ... I'll just buy another one smile.

Beautiful car and a lotta history.

Where I am (Powell River), it's 54 miles wide, all along the ocean coastline. I agree waterfront is beautiful. What I was refering to in my comment is that although a vehicle may look really good on the outside, it may have hidden secrets on the inside, lol........(if it's spent it's life near the ocean).

The car has now sold to a gentlemen in Halifax.

Interesting to note that the buyer purchased a 1963 Parisienne convertible new and this car is very similar to his.

A full restoration is planned.
