how to fix trans. plug??

its the 59' 2-speed cast iron glide and its leaking at the plug. I tried to force a little bit bigger one and it held for awhile but its leaking again. Its 3/4 wide plug so i dont have a tap that big but i was wondering if anybody sells self tapping plugs. They did at canadian tire in the 70s for oil drain plugs i was told but do they still do or does anybody have any suggestions?

You need to put a new seal for the torque converter or the big O ring is leaking on the converter it self. That is not a plug hole.

If it's the plug and not a seal, one of the 'add a trans drain/plug' kits may be useful to repair the bad hole?.
If no, could you patch the bad hole closed and add the new one in a different spot?.
Here's B&M's #80250 kit below and a clickable link too..

If no-go, look for a 'Timesert' style repair kit, better than the helicoil for these kind o' repairs..

Good luck!.

it is a drain plug right in the middle of the pan. Since its a cast iron glide there is no seperate pan so i cant just replace the pan unfortunately. I looked at that b&m kit but that wont work, i need a big ass tap or a self tapping or helicoil type fix. Im going to look at napa and other parts places tomorrow.

I wish Jon but the problem is that to even buy a 3/4 inch tap will cost a bundle and i couldent find a self tapping plug big enough. I did find something today that might work with a little cutting so I will give it a try tomorrow if my back is up to it (I hurt my back pretty good so I havent been able to do anything for almost two weeks now)
