Convertible top boot clips

The 64/65 Beaumont boot clips are all metal and scratch the hell out of the chrome. The 66/67 boot clips are metal with plastic coating. My question is can the 66/67 ones be used for 64/65?? Is the chrome piece that u clip to the same size????
