hey folks my dad always had a 1967 acadian canso 2 door hard top, growing up this was an awsome memory. he  had to sell it about 15 years ago. he sold it in utopia ontario about 15 minutes west of barrie, if i recall the guy that bought it lived near or around lefroy or churchill ontario. it was blue at the time with the rear fender wells cut up to the body line for wider tires. it had shelby rims. engine was an old 327, the shifter was on the steering colomn. anyway long story short just trying to feed my curiosity and memories. would be awsome to see that old car again and see if it ever got restored. any leads or info would be great. thanks for your help guys,

Is there any chance you have the VIN? You could get the used car package. That will tell you who the last registered owner was.

We have a few members in that area, Ted and Mike from in an around Wasaga Beach. That's my cottage area as well and I don't recall seeing a Canso like that in Barrie, Wasgaa Beach or Midland cruise ins.

good idea! i asked my dad to look for the vin on an old insurance record or something? who knows where the car is now? i live 5 minutes from where the car was sold and I have never seen it around? the guy told my dad he was going to do a full restore. whether or not he did would be cool to know. before my dad owned it in utopia a guy owned it out new lowell ontario. the car sure did go fast. i remember my telling me stories of when it ran drag races in beeton back in the day, the early 327 in it was powerfull and the 2 speed power glide made it go. it always seemed like a sleeper to me with the shifter on the steering and front bench seat. anyway lets hope to get some closer on this one. if i get any info i will let you guys know, and if my dad finds the vin i will post it for ya. cheers for now.

Your dad should be able to go to the MTO and get a list of all the cars he's owned. I did it about 5 years ago and I think it was about $25. From there you can get the VIN of the Acadian and get the buyers package. I am still surprised the buyer's package lists prev owners with our tough privacy laws.

I have a correction to make, i earlier said the car ran in beeton. after speaking with my pops he said the car used to run the 1/4 mile in coldwater up at big chute until some guy died on a motorcycle or something, going the wrong way on the road? interesting story. he said anyone that used to drag race back then would know this car for sure, as the only part they seen was the backbiggrin anyone hear any old stories about the races they used to have in coldwater?

You'd have to have some big maraccas to race on the Big Chute road out of Coldwater.

Tell your Pops my son works with a guy who did a code 3 run from Port McNichol to Balm Beach in 8 minutes. Hwy 12 to 93 then down Balm Beach Rd. to the beach.  Dispatch records of time call sent and when he arrived back him up. I find it hard to believe, see what your Dad says.  Might be obvious but he was driving a late model Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor.
