they were just down the street from me, i went and drooled at the showroom! my buddy bought a 69 chevelle ss 396 , 375hp, m22, 3.55 gear car new , and i bought a 69 427/425 l72 , m22 car in the 1990's that came on the same delivery trailer. dont have it now..... i also test drove( in about 1973)  a 68 camaro 427 l72 , m22 that came from manders. it was painted silver over the original hugger orange, i wonder where that is now? another buddy bought a 73 chevelle ss wagon there, it was yellow with woodgrain. i bought a 72 chevelle "heavy chevy" from manders(called dick irwin after about 1969/70) , it was white on blue with black stripes.

My dad ( Honest Bert Stephenson) sold cars at Mander from 1964-1970. He drove lot's of musclecars home. I was only 6-11 years old, but I still loved those cars. We even took a couple to White Spot drive in. My brother( Don Stephenson)also worked there taking his mechanics apprenticeship. He snuck a couple of the hardcore cars out for "test drives". He was not nice to them. I still remember some big long black marks in front of our house on Shavington street. I just wish I was a little older at the time. Thanks for bringing this up, sparked some great old memories.

in 66 67 68 cheetahs where full load L34 high hp cars with the large rads and open element air cleaners most 396 a few 427 in veryess states of performance, Early cars 4sps later 68s had 4spd or autos, all cheetahs had telbot mirrors and they never had the remote mirror option witch a lot of full load cars had, i have only ever seen one 66 with out a paded top, all 67 68 i have ever seen had bumperetts 427 cheetahs with 427 flags installed had the cheetah emblems mounted behind the front wheel openings, as far as i know there where 29 cars built.

called tonight.. talked to him for about 6 minutes.
says the car came from conroy, was factory "pukey yellow" with paw prints across the hood and down the back of the car.. but the car was black when he got it.
any rust was replaced with steel and the paint color is now a "gun metal" silver.
said something about the steering column being chrome as well.. said it was a dealer installed option. Also has pwr tinted windows, Posi (unsure, but thought 3.73 gears), has 427 emblems...
said he's had about 100 calls in the last week, so doesnt expect it to stick around by the weekend.. but.. if it is he suggested that he would call me and let me take a look and photograph and document it for posting here. I told him it was of no interest to me, but that there are several people in the club that could be.

Hopefully it sells for him.. sounded pretty sincere, and has a ton of other projects to finish.

It sounds like he has many buyers for the car for @ 25G w/o driveline and no photographs and no GM documentation?  is this the drift of it?

That supposed real Cheetah picture that's been floating around also posted here a few times was a yellow car..
Is this one a black hat car too?.

The GM Vintage package from George could help confirm the Conroy lineage but unless something more substantial can be found to support the Cheetah thing, it's just another Conroy delivered Beaumont..

Looking at the car or GM paperwork, check factory options as Conroy sometimes ordered cars destined to be Cheetahs w/ shoulder belts etc..
Ask for loose parts too as again Cheetahs were sometimes equipped w/ specific aftermarket parts, bellhousing etc..

Best o' luck to whoever can view the car!.
