Very nice car and story Carl.   Any chance of seeing it at POCI 2012 St. Charles, Illinois?

Boy, I don't know Clint. I drove it to POCI in 1994 and 1996, both about 800 miles one way. Both in Illinois, (Springfield and Moline), both times my wife was pregnant and both times she was in great pain in those "posturepiedic" 1965 GM bucket seats I'm not sure I could convince her again. Doubtful she'd be pregnant again but she still likely would dread it!

yup-thats it-I paid $200 for it-changed the wheels and bumpers (bought good bumpers at the Barrie flea for $10 pair !) drove it the summer sold it to a guy in London for his son-he was a truck driver and had an Acadian wagon--never seen the car again-floors had been done nicely with pans and frame was tied-rebuilt 194 ci auto-car has to be out there somewhere

I just thought of a couple of things I could add to the thread that pertain to the car's history.

Original documents she included when I got it, as well as the paperwork she and I did---

kinda interesting that the original paperwork doesn't say Pontiac on it ?

Beauty! Great car, great story, just great, Carl!

Did someone have to break the drivers vent window, then replaced it with one that is not tinted?

Dave

Rats, you're the first guy who ever commented on that!!!

I still have to find tinted vent glass for it one day. Got the rest out of a wrecking yard likely close to 20 years ago. The search continues!

Great story and awesome car. Maybe you could find an orchid mist 65 sd for your daughter instead. Tell her to start looking.

The vent window is straight glass, any shop should be able to replace it cheap.
I had mine done..

Only reason I noticed is that I had to break a window in my car (locked keys inside and nobody around to get help) (and I figured the vent window was smallest so would be cheapest to replace) many years ago and only replacement readily and cheaply available was ... now I don't remember if windows were tinted and replacement not, or the other way around. Anyhow it didn't match. But I do remember it bugged me all the time, so I am sensitive to it.

Since the car is a driver, I assume 'matching date code and GM mark' are not important, so maybe Lefty has the answer?

Dave

Yes, I could get them cut if need be. I know if I put my mind to it I can find the proper glass though. It's been off the road so long now I've tried to focus on getting it back driving first and then making it "pretty" after that!
