Add options to my 67?

Many of you have heard me talk about my 67 Nova SS and the plan to turn it into an Acadian. It's a pretty well optioned car from new, 327, a/c, tint, ps, wire wheel covers, rear antenna, rear speaker, bumper guards.

Question.  I have a nice complete original 67 rear defogger. Do I add it to the car when I restore it? I have always sufferered from "optionitis" and love adding original options to vehicles. However, this one is pretty original but I will be switching from Nova to Acadian, so........?

Build it the way you want it Carl. If you are changing it to an Acadian it won't make any difference.

I often tell people the same thing Brad but for some reason I was unsure this time. I think I will save it and use it.  I was cleaning up/organizing parts shelves and found it. I was thinking of listing it to sell, when suddenly the light bulb came on! It's even the right switch.

I think it's a keeper!

Carl. I added power steering, power brakes, 327, buckets, console, 4 speed, tach, limited slip diff, Disc brakes. The way I see it is you should build it as if you were ordering it new. The way you want it.

Added the rear window deffoger to mine, I tell them it's a dealer installed option on this car because it was not ordered that way, my original 67 had a factory rear deffoger, this one had to have it also, just me that's all, they're cool, do if you want

Good point, never thought of it that way. After all, it is in the accessory catalogue.

Hey Carl are you also changing the front clip to a 66 to match a 67 Canso? Have you found all those pieces?

Yes, I picked up NOS 66 style fenders. Also a 67 grille, grille moulding, bezels, hood spear, hood latch, front and rear bumper, tail lights, most of the emblems, etc. I am still hoping to get someone to reproduce the 67 fender louvers. Otherwise I have most of what I need, or else what is still missing is available repro, such as the rocker moldings which are Nova. The rear lower 1/4 mouldings I lucked out of as they were used on 66 Nova SS and I found a pretty nice used pair in Minnesota.

Just a couple of little pieces left missing from the puzzle...

And I should add, with the exception of those lower 1/4 mouldings and the NOS fenders, I think all of it came thanks to members of Canadian Poncho.

Are the 66 Canso SD rear lower quarter moldings the same as the 66 SS? Are they hard to find?

Yes, they are the same.

I don't see them real often but I only looked a short time to find mine and then haven't really looked a lot since. It seems to me they are being reproduced. They don't seem to bring big bucks when they do come up although I imagine a mint used pair would cost more. The L79 SS/SD guys would likely want them for the big buck resto.

The reason is I was offered a 66 Canso SD pair for the rear lower behind the tires for 400.00. I almost fell out of my chair. Oh pricey! Are you sure the 66 sd canso is reproduced? What was this fellow thinking?

I haven't actually seen that they are repro but someone told me they are.

And yes, that seems high. I think the highest I've seen them listed for was around $225 or something like that.

I didn't buy them but it's one of those things. I declined but if somebody wanted them would they pay it? Would they be stuffed in a garage and never sold at all? Stuff like that is happens all the time.

I would not hesitate in adding options to that car as you are making a change anyhow. Especially when that car has so many options. To me AC is such a neat option in that vintage of cars and is so practical out here besides. That will be one rare car.
