Wow, that is a great price if he can backup the claim that it's a rebuilt engine.

You can call it whatever you want but that is a fair price for a good looking engine.

That would be top dollar for pedals!

If you want it, call, and if he has it, I'll run and pick it up for you though. Just say the word.

Who do I know that is coming back from the 'Peg with a pickup truck???? Nah, better not......................

This got me thinking about big block oil pans for B bodies. I did some checking. Anyone know what the differences are? I can see 71 up maybe being different, but why two choices 70 and older? Same chassis.

65-66 uses one number of pan

67-70 uses one number of pan

71-up uses one number of pan

Summitt Racing has only one listing 65-69, does dipstick location change from pass to driver thereby requiring two PN's for OEM?

I am betting 65-69 is all the same, as they list. I am more wondering what the difference was when they were brand new. Must have been something.

The one I took off the 454 I have was sourced by 427Carl for Todd's Laurentian. Once I cleaned it up on the inside there was permanent marker and it said 66-69 396 427.

The one thing I did notice was weight, the OEM one VS. the Summit one I bought. No comparison in material really. The new one was a much lighter gauge steel.

I've heard that comment before, that the "new" pans are not the quality the old ones are.

I had to replace the oil pan on our 94 Roadmaster years ago and the new pan (aftermarket) was fine though.

'65-'66 pans had a small hole to retain the pan/frt cover seal. dipstick tubes were all mounted the same way, pass side through the pan.
