RE: B.J. Scotsdale 2012

I have it on in the background when I'm doing other stuff and I find it interesting to see what people will pay for many of these cars. But I don't take it too seriously - it doesn't affect me as I'm not in that market anyway.

Well there is always lots of discussion when it comes to BJ.  I have seen Steve Davis interviewed regarding his eye condition and that is why he always has to wear the dark glasses.  Call me shallow but I really enjoy the show for what it is.  We never know how we would be running the show if we had something as successful as they have.  I know the 5 full days I spent there in 2010 was a highlight of my car events that I have attended.  I would love to go every second year and definetely will be going again once my work career slows down.  There are just so many interesting vehicles which you never see on tv and it has a neat atmosphere and I have to admit to enjoy being a people watcher.  I enjoyed talking to many of the consigners and there are so many interesting stories.  I treat it as a big car show and the $100 charge for the week to me was a bargain.  Good memories for sure, but each to their own, and I am not a high roller.

You know the irony of it all is I really want to go myself and I will, but, the difference of being there and watching all or some of the cars going thru is alot different then watching a few cars going thru and seeing 28 stabil gas advertisings. So my rantings were just related to the televised portion of the auction and can only imagine just how great it would be to be there in person.

Wow! $350000 for that unrestored 65 GT350?!?

Todd, the sad part is that it was partially "restored". The engine (taken all apart and rebuilt)and engine bay (lots of new stuff) were touched by the owner.

It was not a time capsule worth $350,000.00!

At one point, I was watching the movie "Scarface" on Spike, and flipping back to catch it during Spike's commercials.

If i had the dollars to spare i would definitly be there.Even just to go and see the cars,automobilia.etc.I watched this week and there were some good deals to be had.I would've scooped up the 71 hemi gtx and 69 440 coronet convertible that sold as a pair for less than 120,000.00.Saw some million dollar cars that i would not have paid that for but hey to each his own.I would like to see a few canadian pontiacs on there just to see what they would go for.Maybe some day if i get the 54 sedan delivery restored to that quality.Got to be worth something being so few built.Come on lotto super 7!!!

That is a piece of Art. Made in Buffalo NY, car of Royalty

These high end 30's cars really appeal to me, Auburns, Cords, Duseys, Pierce Arrows, Cadillac and LaSalles. They really tell a story about America after the depression.

From what I've heard,"if your car doesn't meet B-J's standards, they will turn you away" so the way i see it, the 1st. 2 days with the lower priced cars, still must "pass the Inspection" & be WORTHY of going across the block!!!

Well, I gotta get this off my chest. I can't stand this show's ideals anymore. It has lost its hobbiest theme and gone COMPLETELY commercial. Thank God for my pvr system, in the first 45 minutes of the 4 hour program, we saw 3, count them, 3 cars go over the auction block and about 25 minutes of commercials. I've lost track of whos the greediest of the pair, is it speed channel for selling 75% of the auctions air time to commercialism or is it Jackson who has his oversized meathook of a hand in the pocket of every single aspect of the sale (he most likely gets a percentage of the advertising revenue as well, or come to think of it maybe all of it, if he buys the air time from speed and has control of that time, then he gets the proceeds from all the ads. Which makes sense, he is very money hungry) I could go on and on about the money that this guy makes, do you know that not only does he charge vendors to sell food (thats obvious) but he gets a cut on every morsel they sell, with every bite of the hotdog or popcorn you eat, he gets a bite himself! And can somebody tell me why his side kick, Mr Hollywood, never takes off the sunglasses, even in darker setting interviews, hes gotta have his coolrays on. It must be a problem with that 3 letter word that starts with the letter 'e'........no not eye......ego! Or is it because he has a bit of a concious and has a hard time looking anyone in the eyes, knowing what hes a part of? I'm sticking with my first theory. Well, I feel a bit better, I'm sure not all of you agree with my observations and opinions, but hey thats what makes the world go round. What say you, Cheers Dave.

COMPLETE AGREMENT AND COULD NOT SAY IT ANY BETTER. IT IS USUALLY PAINFUL TO WATCH THIS SHOW BUT I WATCH IT ANYWAY TO SEE THE FULLY RESTORED ORIGINAL CARS THAT I LIKE. IT IS A FANTASY WORLD AND ONCE THESE CARS LEAVE THOSE TENTS THEY WILL NEVER GET ANY WHERE NEAR THOSE PRICES. IT IS MILLIONAIRES PLAY LAND AND SOME HOW THE LITTLE GUYS GET SCREWED IN THE END. George.

and    Whats with all the Charity cars for  U.S. Military ??

Our American friends work hard at being kind to the Military  but why do they not look after the wounded  (mentally and physically)

Are the soldiers disposable?      just wondering

Its great that they raise millions and millions

I'm all for charities, but there is turning out to be too many of them on BJ. Bogs the auction momentum down. The entertainment value in these auctions is getting boring, because a lot of these "painted-up
" charity cars are very ugly and boring.

There was one air-brushed Military-themed car (don't even remember what make it was) in the past auction that was hideous, and the bidders spoke with a low charity bid!

Agreed. I suppose it would be kind of neat to have Corvette 427 VIN 0001 and see it being built. I suppose the high bidder gets a charitable receipt for his bid minus an appraised value of the car?
