Wagon has less than 9000 miles on it

427 C.I. V-8
425
L72

This was the "secret" 427 in 1969.

Only 546 of these L72 engines were ordered for any of the full size Chevrolets in 1969, and it was not listed in any sales or dealer materials.

Nice! Great for grocery shopping, and hauling the clan up to Granma & Granpa's for Thanksgiving dinner.

I have my "doubts" on being "1 0f 2" built!!! but without "DOCUMENTATION" it's the sellers word only!! Maybe with those options,no Pwr, brake, no A/C ??? Nice looking LONG ROOF no mention of rear gear ratio but I'm guessing it's STIFF" stump pullers?? 22,500 is not out of line [IMO] body looks solid!! Still would like to see some Docs. on this WAGOON

I think it's one of 2 L72 427's. And it would have been ordered to best fit the power to weight ratio of the class it fell into, so I would think the 9 pass configuration would drop it into the top of it's class, weight-wise.

I'm sorry   I called it a COPOdisbelief       The ad says  "special ordered" race car...   Must be a L72?  Kingswood is like a Impala  There are a couple of Kingswood Estate L72's out there

I was going to call about it as its a favorite of mine (wagons) and its got  History...   but I don't think its enough horsepower wink   It only runs in the elevens at 117mph......   I have access to a 69 427-390 engine but unfortuntely no one pays big money for a race motor   If the 427 is original, then its probably a good idea to de-tune it

The solid lifter L-72 used a different fuel line than the other engines. If I remember correctly there was a larger line and no return line. Those pieces had not been designed for the wagon tank and as a result were not offered. A special order was submitted through the COPO approval process, which also included the Engineering Department. If Engineering designed the pieces needed, it would them pass through to Marketing that would price it. Once that non-standard order was approved it was assigned a COPO number. At that point theoretically anybody could submit an order with that COPO number.

An L-36 390-horse 427 with a 4-speed would be a Regular Production Order, but an L-72 in a wagon was not. I think that even the L-72 in any Big Chevy was a COPO, as was an M-22 Rock Crusher 4-speed (77 installed total). The factory RPO axle ratios went up to 3.73, but through a COPO if you had an L-72 you could specify to 4.88.

THANKS. I DIDN'T KNOW THAT. I THOUGHT L-72 WAS A RPO ON ALL FULL SIZE.

The L-72 was an RPO on the full-size 69 Chevy, but normally the L-72 was not offered for the wagons. It took a COPO to get the fuel line changes engineered for using an L-72 in a wagon.

$_35.JPGLikely 2 Canadian built 66's?

There is a 427 66 2 door post Biscayne on Kijiji now, a project car. Likely worth the $6500 if the 427 is real and usable? In Halifax.
