The owners as nice as his car, I spoke with him about a possible trade for my Electraglide a few months back but sadly he wasn't interested. Or I'd have this one in my driveway already. This car is a work of art.

I've always had a soft spot for Oldsmobiles. I rebuilt a 1964 F85 Cutlass back in the late 70's. Drove it about 2 weeks before I got t-boned in an intersection. A young girl ran a red - bent the frame and it was written off.

The Starfires were BIG cars but built to do battle with the Chrysler letter cars. From my experience, they were big and heavy and a little slow off the line, but they'd sure pull on the highway. And it was like sitting in your living room while floating down the highway. Stretch out and relax.

The Starfire was a rare one by 1966. The revolutionary FWD Toronado stole the show that year and soon spelled the end of the Starfire. I have both the Canadian & U.S. 1966 Oldsmobile brochures; the Starfire is not in the Canadian brochure. The 1965 version even had side exhaust exits in the rear quarter trim. I'm not sure if the 66 still had it but earlier versions had glasspack mufflers from the factory. They were a handsome and masculine car.

Notice the concave back window on that exclusive body style. That window was shared with the beautiful U.S. Grand Prix, and I think (but not sure) on the 1966 & 67 Grande Parisienne.

Those big Olds with the TH400 had varible pitch stator blades on the torque converter 65-67, as if they needed more torque multiplication. That feature vanished for 1968 when the 455 came out.

That car looks like it has a regular Olds Delta 88 grille. I wonder what the story is?

Tell me GM didn't pen the wickedest rear ends back then?

This one would make me cross over. Sweet! Well priced. But I still don't see 13000 produced as being exactly "Rare". But no matter ... you never see any... anywhere. Thanks for posting it!

Mark, i though it was one of the nicest rear ends I have seen too, maybe we should start a favourite rear ends thread kinda like the Front ends one recently.....I think Timbuk started it?confuse

This one would definitely be up there. To be honest I dont think I have ever actually seen one of these cars in person, never even heard of it.

That makes it even more attractive.
