left my home this morning ........

with   a body  and  a car

came  back  with  only   a frame !

i am getting  that  trunk floor in  with both floor drop offs  and  a patch  on the drivers side lower quarter

putting in a new windshield  and repair panel at  the base

after the trunk is done   a new gas tank , straps, pad  and sending unit goes under

but before   we paint all under the floors ( replaced last year)  and under the trunk floor, then  we put the car back on the frame and replace all the rubber mounts.

after we will pop in the 283  ( going to the dyno  first )  finally  the front clip

and then  it goes back to the  garage  till next winter when  i will get the interior going .

i would like to have some advice  concerning  the frame, what is the best paint  to paint over it  ( i want  to clean all the grease first with a pressure washer  and  oil spray  inside the frame channels)

so  i want to pant all the frame...............should  i use some P O R   type  of paint  , or other  , what the best way to go  ???

thank you  all

Make sure you don't have to have the windshield "out" if your doing the headliner???? Friend down south [W.V.] just made that mistake on his Cutlass!!! Had his NEW W/S put in & then discovered it has to be out to do H/liner. Now he risks breaking it, taking it back out!!!!!! I checked the 52 & would have made the same mistake, as there are old staples under the weatherstrip area from old H/liner .

Your frame looks really good ... POR-15 should do the trick!

There has been a great deal locally (myabe Carl S can comment on price)...but guys were getting their frames powdercoated. For something like $400, they would clean/blast and powdercoat it black!

Powdercoating way to go, to do it right. I know guys you used POR 15 and it flaked off with their thumbnail after months. My truck I sanded frame down myself and tremcladed it. Didnt look pretty but sure took a beating years later and looked as good as the day I did it. Depends....you want a trailer queen or just clean, refreshen existing paint. Your car. I think if you have gone this far....blast and powdercoat

I hear alot of guys swear by por... i would think it's like anything else, do the prep, use the right materials and the outcome will be fine! For me tremclad black isn't black enough! and you would probably have better results with a paint that you apply your own hardener in vs. a premixed paint.

This is mine, elbow grease and spraybombs! The body was never off the frame, and this was done 25 years ago... and i'm still not embarrassed to put a mirror under there! If i had the chance to do it with the frame off, I would powdercoat...

If you powder-coat, you'll probably have to drill out a few frame holes afterwards. I like powder-coating also.
