68 SD CONVERTIBLE FOR SALE

68 SD CONVERTIBLE. 396 350 HP   Originally a 3spd now a 4 spd. Car was a previous body off restoration but I have driven car for years and it now needs  a little attention.  Butternut Yellow , black bench seat and black convertible top. Has all the correct parts including  the side moldings.  The car has its original born with motor but I don't have the 3spd trans. Loads of documentation including pictures from its original owner and copy of original dealer invoice. Car was sold at Park Pontiac Buick and still has its original key fob and dealer emblems.  I will try to give as honest a description of the car as I can. I tend to be hard on my own cars, but here it goes. Paint is about 16 years old. It has a nice shine but has some minor spider cracks. The car has a small crease in the quarter about 6 inches long from my daughters bicycle. There are some areas on the top edges of the trunk  that have slight paint cracks . There is some bodywork done on the passenger side door and it shows a liitle bubble as well as slight missalignment. There is a bubble on top of the windshield pillar  that you can only see with the top down. The glass is good, the stainless is all good and the chrome is shiny. The interior shows very well . The dash has the factory gauge package with tachometer. I do have an aftermarket radio hidden in the glove compartment. The original am radio works fine. The convertible top is in good condition and goes up and down with no issues. The undercarriage of the car is undercoated and presentable but certainly not show worthy. The engine compartment is neat , tidy and correct, but could use a freshening for show. I have incorrect chevy rallye wheels on the car with the correct Beaumont center caps. The original wheel covers go with the car.  Everything on the car works except the horn. Thats a new problem that just came up. Shouldn't be to hard to fix. It runs great and starts up everytime. I have taken it on several 100 to 200 mile trips and never had an incident. I am out of room and have to get rid of a couple of my cars. I thought it would be nice for the car to go back to Canada and be appreciated so I decided to put it up for sale here first and see what happens. I don't want to negotiate so I'm going to list my lowest price right off the bat. 35k, no trades please, out of room. For quickest response please e-mail  BILLW@PADDOCKCHEVROLET.COM

I found one more. It doesn't show much of Bill's car but it shows it and my car parked across from each other.

Sounds nice so where would we see photos? Was it a 3 spd manual or auto originally? Paul

3spd manual. I know there are pictures of the car somewhere on the site. It was the car in the ragtop lover video I put up here a while ago.

Bill, I'm sorry to see that you are selling the car. This one and your Dad's blue convertible are my two favorite Beaumonts. Here are a few pictures I have that I took at the Paddock cruise-in a couple years ago. Someone will be getting a great car.

James

That's a beaut! I hope a fellow CP'er buys it. Any idea how many were made with the 3 speed manual?

I agree Carl. The price I think is fair I guess, don't know anyone elses thoughts on it.The problem I have is paying full price, then shipping and taxes. That's the deal killer for me.I pay more than my share of taxes and I always hated the used car sales tax. With HST it hurts alot more. The economy is getting worse not better. What I'm use to doing as far as my work,I've moved on to different avenues, housing is going to take a big dive,no ones building like they use to.It's getting pretty quiet on the roads truck wise in my town.Theres going to be lots of guys losing their trucks this year.

ok guys-my two cents---Rare oppourtunity to purchase a car that rarely becomes available especially in this condition. If we don't have the money I understand (I don't either). back to the program its a 68 SD396 ragtop ! priced less than I see comparable chevelles at--ya I know tax/shipping etc... thats just part of the package -a fact of life-its not on your doorstep and the government wants their cut ! It won't matter to a real player--good luck with the sale Bill

If your response is directed to me,it doesn't apply, and there isn't much I care to add.The prices of cars from what I see are going down, just like the economy, other than sakatchewan and other so wonderfully blessed. What guys think are great and rare deals, well,I've seen some reappear for far less money and they still are'nt selling.I'm not a guy that ever settles for "it is what it is"! That's what keeps my fire burning!Good day.

No worries for me my friend.... I've got it covered.. I live in house I could afford ( and paid off) and drive 10 year old vehicles that are paid for .... been saving for my kids educations since they were born.. at least I have something put away to get them started after high school.

I am not the typical consumer... I seen my parents go through hard financial times and have always 'paid ' myself first.

Trucker.. you sound much like you've played it smart .. many haven't ...

NOW BACK TO THE SD ..biggrin
