Exact rear end width for Canso?

The 12bolt posi I have is out of a 68 Chevelle. I need to know how much I have to shorten it. Anybody know the measurements?

The chevy by the numbers book shows  for 65 to 67 chevy II  is 52 13/64 in. from axle tube flange to axle tube flange. Same as the 10 bolt. And between centerlines of the spring seats is 43 7/16 in. Measure the chevelle axle between flanges, the book shows 55 1/4 in.  SUbtract on from the other and divide by two to see what comes of each side.

But if you still have your old diff. measure between axle tube flanges and the new one to double check.

Thanks a lot . I knew my numbers were wrong, but knew I was in that 2 1/4 in range.
