. . Picked up an aftermarket a/c kit for my '68 Parisienne 327. . Planned on installing it when I did the engine rebuild. . Well the engine is back in and the a/c compressor won't fit. . AAAGH . . It mounts ok between the right valve cover and oil fill tube. . Problem is it sits to high. . The hood won't close, , by almost two inches. . This mount is probably fine for a ratrod or older '50's car with lots of hood clearance. .
. . Anyone installed an aftermarket unit on one of your cars ? ?
No, I never installed one but a few years ago I found something interesting in Brazil. It was a "plug and play" unit which you mount under the dash towards the passenger side and plug it somewhere ... possibly into the fuse box or whatever the instructions said. The system was electric and would cool off like a box window type, and you would have to empty out the reservoir when it would fill up with water. The car I was in was a Chevrolet Diplomata but I saw the same unit in Beetles and other cars in Brazil. Never seen it anywhere else, though.
You should be able to use a stock 68 compressor and mounts, then just get different hoses to fit?
i did the same as Carl said on my 67 impala when i put the big block in it. i used a stock 70 chevelle style compressor and mounts and made hoses to fit.
