i took a course from KMS tools, well worth it !

took a month (not every day) to finish
have all the right tools if anyone in Surrey wants to try it over the winter..
maybe Kevin can polish the Black 68 !!

KMS tools recommended Liquid ICE
worked great for me
I have the air sander as well as the polisher and pads
if anyone from Vancouver area needs to borrow them.
lot of money to put out for a one time polish..

Neat video-although I would mention a word of caution to anyone doing this to stay away from the edges of your car as it is very easy to burn through those areas.I have polished alot of cars and the results are truly amazing.What I would recommend is to get yourself a roll of 1/4" masking tape and tape all your edges in the area you will be working-especially anyone doing this for their first time.Also you need to have a few coats of clear to make sure you do not sand through the clear and hit your base coat.Again a neat video-but there is alot more to it than meets the eye-and I would definately recommend that first timers use caution and go slowly till you get the hang of it before you do large areas of your car.I always used a hand block instead of an orbital( more control)-lots of water with some dish detergent,and always keep your sandpaper very clean as well as the panel you are working on.Start with 1200 wet,sand the area,then dry it off to expose all the imperfections in the paint,then repeat the process,with 1500,then 2000,then 3000 to finish.Like I have stated already-neat video,but for the beginners out there-start off slowly if you are going to attempt this-beacuse you can burn through edges etc..easily( talking from experience).This guy has 25 years of experience as he stated.

I was told to use non wax car wash, and i used only 3000 grit paper. good idea to stay away from edges
if you don't keep paper clean you will get deep swirl marks that are hard to get rid of..

My secret? Paint with a live chicken, polish with a brick and buff with a pine cone. wink

not at all-just that the first time I did this process I had a 67 black chevelle-ended up with red primer stripes on the top of the front fenders cause I burnt through on the edges-looked like the batmobile-LOL
