Great work Elroy. You are sure getting things done fast. I had no idea this car was getting done that quickly. The blue looks great. Maybe the ragtop 67 next?

Unbelievable! And love that color. (At one point I was going to suggest that you paint it green as that engine is going to make that car go like snot!)
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks guys. Its been fun so far. Carl 2 I know you hate the color !! haha, oh well I like it a lot. Wish I had the time to do the body myself but just don't and probably not the skills either but that would have saved a load of dough no doubt.

Goin to one of my original car buddies funeral today and its just a great reminder that these cars are a great reason to build some great friendships. I built my first engine ( a 58 283) for twenty bucks when I was 14 , rebuilt it and sold it to this car collector for his 57 Belair. Well , I was just shocked when the local GM dealership installed it and it actually ran !! whooohooo,$250 bucks to me !! 35 years later we are burying this fine gentleman. Great man , friend, husband, grandfather... and car guy !!.... his son will inherit his beautiful 57 Belair ( different car) original survivor, orig paint, interior 57K miles, red and white , but I know he would much rather have his Dad. 69 way too young !!

Sorry to hear about your friend Elroy, it'll be a tough day and we obviously don't envy you, but as long as his family is surrounded by good friends and people such as yourself, it will make these tough times a little easier. On a lighter side....LOVE THE CAR,  WOW!  and the color..........beautiful.

Also sorry to hear of your friend's passing but was very exciting to see what has been going on in the back yard. When I saw you post a couple weeks ago I was going to pm you and see if you had decided on a color and how progress was coming but got distracted and then this showed up. So cool and I love the color. I had a 73 Vette roadster in a very similar color. Probably one of the favorite colors of cars I have owned. Great job and I love the pictures with your son's big smiles. You guys are doing an awesome job. Are you guys doing most of the cutting and replacing panels and then having someone doing the final prep and paint?

Haha Terry, no it was not a factory red on red or it would have stayed that way. It was a Sandalwood Tan with a fawn bench seat 396 powerglide originally. I'm not really a gold guy and my son talked me into trying to get it as close as we could to his Camino so that was good enough for me , even though the color was a big stress to decide ! I do appreciate gold cars now more than ever, but my wife doesn't so I thought it might just be a good thing to keep her on side too ! Carl, she woulda been with you on red too !

Thanks Jeryl and Dave too for your comments. What a funeral, a great display of F's as one friend got up front and said. F= friend, F= faithful, F= family He loved his family and was faithful to God and his family, F= fun, he loved to have fun with everyone and his cars his sports, he always had a smile. One could hope for a funeral like that ! Over 500 people, packed the facility right out.

Jerel, we did the dissassembly and my body guy did the panel replacement, paint and body. About 500 hours on his part that I just did not have. I am really happy with his work though, even though its not perfect as far as a showpiece goes, but its just what I wanted for a car I can drive, so perfect for me.
