57 pontiac or 57 chev


checkerflag pix 1971-73 001.JPGI came across this photo in a book my daughter gave me.......this was the ruling car at checkerflag speedway and other southern ontario dirt tracks.....driven by stan"the man"earish......alot of fans mistakenly IDed the car as a 57 chev....not so ....pontiac....I can still remember the wonderful sound of that car motorin' down the backstretch

I think by the headlight trim and rear tailight angle the body is a 57 Pontiac.

 Thanks for posting this. It's been many years since I thought of Stan The Man. I loved those races. I was there almost every Saturday night and wednesday night.

It was great watching him coming in for the checker flag, three abreast with Jack Speedy Monahan in his red 57 chev, and Don Dames in his 57 ford. No one in the crowd was ever sure who was going to be the winner. Good times - Good memories.
