427 B body air cleaner design

I was looking at the 85 Parisienne ad listed here in the Kijiji section. It occurred to me that the air cleaner snorkel appears similar to the 427 air cleaner from the 60's B body. I'm hoping 2kwik2c will see this and post a picture here so we can compare.

I want to make a "427" air cleaner for my GP so if the snorkel looks correct on the 85 I will be hunting for one of these air cleaners. I know the snorkel is too long on the 85 but the shape and size of the oval must be similar?

air.JPG I found this:

No, that looks to be newer, maybe from a 68 or 69? That engine has 69 or newer water pump and brackets on it.

The snorkel for 66-67 is oval like my picture. The one you have above is round.

The 85 snorkel end looks real close from the pics, length looks abit long but no one will notice that. Off to the wreckers for Carl.

Easy to shorten up and re-do the inner end of the snorkel I'm thinking.

It does look pretty good, doesn't it? I was surprised to see it. I thought I'd looked at pretty much air cleaner ever made when I was searching!

I thought of that, ala L72 427 but I am going to try to keep this one stock looking.

It sure looks like it would work well, time to go to the wreckers.

Jeez,  i had one of those for the longest time,  off an 86 caprice.  I thought it looked  close to a 60s one so i kept if for over 10 years,  but i got rid of it a few years ago,    Oh, well,  those should be easy to find

I would think it should be an easy enough find.

Yup, I have the round snout one like that, thanks to 66Grande_Guy.

But I have a 327 version air cleaner waiting for a nose job!

The lid and base look to be the same but the snorkel is way off. I have one of those 327 units like in your picture. I plan to "de-snorkel"it and make a 427 air cleaner out of it. See the bottom picture in my opening post on this thread. That is what you need/want.

If you are sure about that then you may have answered an age old question.
Somewhere in my research I found that the 327 and L36 427 air cleaners in 66
were one part no out.......no longer have the number but maybe nailhead can look
them up...........I didn't buy the Summit one cause I suspected the snorkel too small.
thanx for the info
bj

I am very sure on that but I must give credit where it is due. 2qwik2c on this site Andrew) knows these cars very well and he is the one who educated me on these air cleaners.

For the record, 396 is different as well, there's 3 choices of snorkel in 66.
