with the 65 66 body they can run both one makes it look mean, the other cleans up the body lines, for the time it takes to take them off, its what your mood is for that day.

Hi Carl sorry if you are getting frustrated. I had answered that. To reiterate my brother has a set of the the rear wheel well chrome that woul d work without the skirts. I'd like to try them. i will run with the skirts too just to give them a fair try. I will have to find the little bit of stainles that goes on behind the skirt (if I remember right) Mine were pretty battered but I guess they all would be by now..

Sorry I was offline today as I was away and then was feeling pretty crappy when I got back.

If no rear wheel well chrome I vote SKIRTS..Either way you cannot make that car look bad.

I'm going to go with the skirts moslty because the body lines seem to really look good with the uninterupted flow right to the back.

I have never run skirts before as I always figure they were for old men with big fat old cars but hey I are one!

Why don't you go with the skirts keep them lubed up so they don't get gummed up from the gravel roads

You have a good memory all right. I seem to remember with all the gravel/dirt roads we had around here as a kid nobody ran skirts, at least not for long as they would rust immovably fairly quickly. I imagine it was the same on Ontario Most of the time you'll find them laying in the trunk of any old poncho. The ones I have had been on the car maybe once or twice as they were totally rust free.

In any case, the only gravel they'll see now will be my driveway unless I win the Lotto in which case they won't being seeing that either.

By George they do kind of grow on you!

The more I look at the photos I like them (on that car) and its nice to have a car thats "pretty" that can run with the big dogs

Yeah I agree, I kind of blew it on the rear tire size. They are stock height (to keep the speedo at least close) but wider (225-60 15's) but they just look too small in there. I shoulda got the 275's or whatever I can get to just fit. Maybe if i make some coin this summer I'll buy two bigger tires and save the current rears for when I need new fronts.

I'm not a fan of skirts. They always make me think the car should be in a funeral procession.
But on that car, they look 'right'.
I think they'd look even better with a set of 275-60-15's tucked in behind them. Class from the side. Business from the back.

wont fit the latch catches on the sidewall when you go around a corner, otherwise no prob

its tight on the wheel well too, the spring pocket is close. i was running 8.5 with 4.5 backspace

Could an 8" rim with 4.5 BS work? I know on
'66+ A-bodies, the 8 inch wheel with 4.5" BS (zero offset) works very well. I know some even run 10" with 5.5" BS (still zero offset), but for 15" wheels, you have to grind the shock mount a little. Larger diameter wheels will clear the shock mount. (Note this assumes you have the correct rear end in the car).

I'm not as familiar with B-bodies. I imagine it'd work great without the skirts, but I can see it might be tight with the skirts on. I built a jig to measure it all up to get the right BS - it was fairly easy.

Still, I think it'd look pretty sweet.
