Last weekend, i have seen an 1968 Acadian SS with a 427 engine at a local car show. The car was having the 427 V8 badges on the side and everything. I'm wondering if this car is the real deal or not? Did Acadian ever produce SS model with 427 in 1968?

The factory didn't even make 396 Acadians. That in itself is a little surprising since the Acadians at that point were built in the same U.S. plant that made Novas. The Nova SS was available with 396 power, but even with the COPO program where 427s were dropped into Camaros & Chevelles, GM was just too worried about liability with a 427 in an X-body car.
Now an enterprising dealer could have easily done a swap using factory parts, but it wouldn't be as cost effective as if the factory did it on the assembly line where the labor to drop in this engine rather than that one before the body drop.
Imagine the power to weight ratio! GM's lawyers did and that is what kept them from offering them.

As I remember the 1968 Acadian SS has unique emblems. A SUPER SPORT emblem on the lower front fender with only a V8 emblem, no numbers like the Nova had around the marker light.
