1966 Beaumont - Fuel gage is always full.

My fuel gage always reads full, when the car is on or off. I have noticed that adding gas makes the Gage move up more. When the gas tank is near empty the fuel gage needle is almost touching the full line. I don't want to jump right in and play around with the fuel tank.

It's almost as if it needs to be offset as the gage moves with fuel level, just always stays above full. Maybe there is a disconnected wire?

Thanks,

Most likely no ground at the tank . Try a jumper wire from the tank to the frame, clean up the metal so you have a good connection
