FINALLY !! Pictures of our 1965 Red L79 Beaumont

Its been a while but finally able to post some pictures of our second  1965 L79 Beaumont.

We had the Pearl White one in Florida this winter and attended the Daytona Turkey Run. The car drew so much attention, it seamed like there was never less than 10 to 15 people around it all day long asking questions about the car and saying they never saw or heard of a Beaumont let alone a L79 one.  After reading all my documentation from GM of Canada and seeing how rare it is they couldn't believe I actually drove it from Michigan to Florida.

We met some representatives of the Orlando Festivals of Speed & Boca Ratan Concourse De Elegance and they invited us to attend both shows.  Again our Beaumont drew a lot of people asking Questions about the car.  We felt vary honored to have the Beaumont at these Prestige's Shows. While at the Boca Ratan show we were asked to attend to Amelia Island Concourse Show but is was to far to drive from Key Largo (485 miles) but we did go to 6 car shows in Miami and Ft Lauderdale and won a trophy at every Show.

When we got back to Michigan in mid May its been one hectic go.  Our point went bad on our well which en turn drew sand through plumbing system. Hence forth new well, new water softener, new hot water tank, plumbing, and re sod front lawn. Then my wife Susie had to go for complete knee surgery but is finally home and on the mend. So enough said pictures below.                                                                                                                                                                                   Joe & Susie

I respectfully  disagree with the sign board   It was a Beaumont   not a Cdn GTO

The sign is clearly an explanatory description for show goers who are just about as far away as one can get from the 49th. Certainly not the first or last time we will see an SD depicited this way.  GM Canada first offered the GTO in 1969 through its dealer network. Prior to that a GTO could be imported through very limited dealers willing to do that for a customer. Bonnevilles and Grand Prixs were also brought into Canada this way.   In 1970 GTO's were actually built in Oshawa and again in 1973, the only two years ever built in Canada  in fact in 73 the GTO was an option on LeMans so really the 70 would be the only year a GTO model was built in Canada. So up until 1969 GM Canada only offered one A body muscle car through Pontiac dealers - the Sport Deluxe, hence the moniker Canadian GTO.

They should have put "Canadian Pontiac GTO" in brackets below the "1965 Acadian Beaumont" title. I know I'm just nit-picking, but to me this just confuses our southern neighbours even further.

Joe & Susie, Im glad that you are exposing these cars at the shows. They are so mis-understood and rare. Im also glad that the actual driving to and from went off without a hitch. I did see your white SD several years ago at the Northern Chevelle Gathering on Grand Island and was smitten right away. I knew you also had this red car but this is the first I have seen it. Thanks for posting,

They should have made the border around the Peoples Choice Number box match the red border around the outside of the sign.

All kidding aside, these are two absolutely gorgeous cars. I love seeing Beaumonts of any year, but especially the '65s, being saved and restored. Great job guys!
