Now I like that alot, very nice. I would just add an original roof rack to that and save but change the wheels. Then cruise!!

Anyone know if you could get a 283 4bbl. in '62? The dual exhaust make me wonder since he says it's correct. Anyway, I like this car a lot.

There had been a 283 4-barrel in 1961, with the next larger engines all being 348s. That changed for 1962. There were only 3 engine choices for 1962; the 261 six (the last year for them, and they got a new air cleaner & partial-flow oil filter), the 170-horse 283 2-barrel with a very mild camshaft, and the new 327 4-barrel with 250 horsepower.

That wagon is super nice! It was always kind of rare, but today it rates up there with sasquatch sightings.

The car looks correct from what I can see, but I can't blame the owner for running a dual system. A Y-pipe necked down to a single system seems silly to me. You really don't save a lot of money running a single system if it has a Y-pipe since that joined pipe is expensive. You pay for mufflers once at a national muffler chain, after that is is hangers ($5 each) and tailpipes. Given the reduction in back pressure and the extended exhaust valve life by running a dual system, to my way of thinking it is a no-brainer. Besides, the "V" emblem on the fender could denote either the 283 or 327, with the duals one might assume it is a 327.

Transmission choices were few that year; either the Syncro Mesh 3-speed manual with a non-syncronized low with all engines, or the Powerglide 2-speed automatic. The 261 & 283 used the cast iron Powerglide (to be the last year), while the 327 rolled out the new aluminum case Powerglide (327 and larger Powerglide versions have stronger internals as well). All Powerglides got the aluminum case for 1963.
