The bright yellow doesn't do anything for me....the original Aztec Bronze was a 1 year only colour (1966) and is gorgeous.

The 3 speed manual transmission was a rarity back in the day....nearly all of the 396 cars had either M20's or M21's, only a few M22's were delivered in '66.

It looks like it has spent it's 'life' out west...

There was another Aztec Bronze '66 Sport Deluxe with a 396 & h.d. 3-speed sold new out of Listowel, Ontario. The last I heard it was in Alberta with 100% original paint and only 28,000 miles!

The L34 Sport Deluxe & Malibu SS in 1966 came with 3.73 rear gears.

I still wonder why the docs say 350 HP as it was not available in 1966

Thanks

Randy

It shows how much stock they put in their own figures. Some early Chevrolet 1966 documents or option lists actually rated the L34 at 375 horsepower and the L78 at 425 horsepower. The figures were revised to 360 and 375 respectively. For 1967 they felt the government watchdogs breathing down their necks and decided it might be wise to fudge the figures downward on the highest horsepower-to-weight ratio cars. The L78 Chevelles were dropped but then secretly added back to the U.S. option list late in the run without any promotion.

I simply think that they sort of goofed when that '66 was documented

I get the part about identical engines having different H.P. ratings etc. it's just that there was no such thing as a 350 H.P. 396 in 1966 in any car line. Could the G.M. docs be incorrect?? Or could these docs de doctored?? It just seems odd.

Thanks

Randy

The docs are wrong, it should be 360 horsepower. The reality is that the L34 is an L34 is an L34. Chevelles & Beaumonts that year rated the L34 396 at 360 horsepower.
