454 '74 Laguna NB kijiji

Actually 75 was last year for the 454 ....although they do list a 400

in 1976...I assume that's the 400 sbc...... not the 400 (402) BBC

By '77 only the 350 remained.......(heavy sigh).......

Looks like about as nice of an example of one of these cars as you'll find.

Always liked those. I'd document it before buying to be safe though.

Well I just checked the books and - yup - you could get a 454
in the 74 Laguna.......only 235hp and 8.5:1 cr...but what a starting point.
A mans transmission was also available..........ooooeee!

This car is very tempting........

Of all the overweight underpowered, rust prone, plasticy mid 70's barges those are my favorite. I have to admit a sneaking admiration for those Laguna's. If a guy was to stick an 700r4 in there you'd have one awesome highway cruiser as long as you had a good supply of 8 tracks!

Well sure enough, you are right. I would have lost money on that bet. I don't think I've ever seen a 454 in a 75 Malibu.

Hey hey - not the Pontiac version? smile

Interesting how the LeMans had the 455 continuing through 1976, and a 400 through 1977 while they cut back on engine choice for the Chevy line.

Looks pretty nice and probably was garaged.  The plastic interior trim on these cars really degrades badly if exposed to the sun for years on end.

My older cousin had a 454 74 Malibu, we had a 73 LeMans at the time. The big block 74 Malibu was my inspiration to put the 454 in the LeMans, so I had this idea since I was 17.  Lets not be fooled by that 235 NET HP rating (that's 335 Gross HP anyway), I was in my cousin's car on Hwy 135 going to Lindsay when a 440 70 GTX went out to pass him, nothing doing with that 454 torque just the same way my LeMans tames 65Camino's 69 440 Roadrunner. A big Block Chevy is all about torque and they always have had tons.

I used to work with a fellow in the 80's (crap I feel old) he had a 454 4 gear laguna, wraped it around a hydro pole loaded up. Amazing what we used to get away with. Never even got a scratch. Poor car though, wrote it off. (sigh)
