1963 Pontiac Parisienne red with white top, originally with a 409 engine and 4 speed.

Recently while searching for this 1963 Pontiac as listed above I came across Canadian Poncho that apparently had listed a 1963 Pontiac Parisienne in October 2010, the car was red and it now had a 340 but a 409 came with it. It sold in the Kitchener area of Ontario. Can anyone helps me find out if this car is the one I am searching for.

I am not looking to buy this car, just pass along the history of the car if this is the correct one. If it is it was purchased new in St. Georges, Quebec and iknow a lot of the history, like the previous owner etc.  I may even be able to obtain photos of when it was new from the brother of the now deceased first owner.

Thanks to Canadian Poncho and in particular 427carl, I was able to locate this 1963 Parisienne and its owner. A deal was struck and yesterday(monday) it made its way back where it was originally purchased, in St.Georges, PQ to be amongst a 20 car collection. It will be restored to its original colour and the original engine and transmission will be back in the car by the summer of 2014. The original owner has passed away several years ago and his family sold it sometime in the late 1990's. It took me the better part of three years to find this car for a friend of mine who owns several cars and absolutely wanted to find it. My friend and I saw this car drive by our houses when we were kids almost on a daily basis and often at a pretty good clip.

What a great story.

I have looked at this car in person many times. I sat with the owner and the car in the car corral in Bothwell one summer
and we both lamented on how hard it was to sell a collector car these days. Now to hear that someone was actually searching
for the car all this time, it's amazing.

Regards, Scott (LandShark ...)

I think we are at the point now on CP where collectively or individually we will know where any surviving Canadian Pontiac is. That's amazing when you stop to think about it.

thanx Carl

yep - that's the same car that was for sale in Kingston in early 2006.

I intended to go see it but was moving from Toronto to Goderich, however
while stopped at the service center on 401 near Cambridge the same car
on a trailer pulled in along side.............this guy had just purchased it and
if I remember correctly it was for around $20,000......
I thought it was worth the money.........

I have a photo of what it looked like originally, currently the car is burgundy/red wine in colour with Cragar wheels and a 409/425 HP. It will be returned to its original colour of red with white top, original wheels with hubcaps and its original engine after its rebuilt. If I can figure out how to add the photo I will do so, so far no success.

Great photos, yes the seller is a really nice guy, I did the transaction for a friend of mine in Quebec where the car has returned. I have purchased several cars for this guy and this was one of the easiest deal to do, especially since the car was still in Canada.

Parts manufacturer Borg Warner has made transmissions since 1928 and their modern models include the T-4, T-5, T-10, T-18 and other models.

Borg Warner has supplied the transmission for various models of the Camaro, Firebird, 300ZX, Mustang, and the Porsche 911 Turbo.

You can identify one of their products by one of these T-series markings but not all are marked as such and you would need to find a description of the Borg Warner model it may be.

The original transmission and engine are out of the car right now so I may be able to obtain the number on it in the next few days from the new owner. Yes there is a lot of material that came with the car along with the original invoice for the purchase of this car. The dealership that sold the car closed about 18 years ago.

The car sold at Barrie flea market in the late 90's. It had fog lights in front of the grill to give it a GP look and had Quebec plates. I think the price on it was $7,000. When i found it Sat. morning it had a sold sign on it already. Nice to see it getting a correct resto. Barry

Sorry about not posting any news, I will try to post at least monthly from now on as I talk to the new owner on a weekly basis. Here is what happened since the car was purchased in November 2013.

The owner has sought a suitable place to restore this Pontiac, has done so by looking at some previous  work done by the four places he visited that he had contacted about the restoration. While I restore cars myself and has done one for him, I specialize in Austin-Healey exclusively.

The Pontiac has been completely dismantled, a fair amount of work is required, the frame was pretty soft, thus another frame has been found and purchased. There were many patches welded in various places where rust repair was previously done. Some were repaired properly while some were patched over the old rusted metal, but now the floors, as well as the trunk floor will all be replaced. All chrome has been removed and will be replated as necessary. The original engine is being rebuilt and the 409 with 425HP will be sold, not sure what is being done with the transmission right now. All mechanical parts will be gone over and replaced or rebuilt depending of the condition. The steel whells as original will replace the Cragar that were on the car and these will also be sold. This is the stage the car is at this time, if I can get some photos as it progress, I will post them. The current owner is having it restored so it looks like it did when the first owner bought it new.
