The more i look at this sweet 63 Chev wagon, the more i love it. Well except for those silly looking fog horn exhaust tips. This car selling so cheap is very sad to think about, especially being a 409er.

some 63's may or may not have a vin no. on the engine block......casting no at left rear of block

will tell if 63 motor.......a lot of 340 horse cars came with the powerglide

3rd number in on the vin plate (not the trim tag)  should be even if a V8 and odd if a 6.......nothing specific for a 409

the 409 above the flags is correct for 63 and they are in the correct position for an Impala......

the flags if original will be very thin, if service replacements or repops they are noticeably thicker

as for the hub caps they were two types chrome covered brass and stainless, these may be the

stainless as they appear a little different to the old chrome over brass set I have.......

still a very nice car........love to see it up close........great tow vehicle for my 63 Belair 409

It's priced at 26,500.00 on the website (above) and it's 15,500.00 on eBay with no reserve and 2 days left. It will be interesting to see what it finally goes at.

Very nice wagon!

Notice the big receiver hitch?    Maybe, thats why the tips are pointed to sides?

Carl, they are suppose to be pointed to the sides. That was the factory positions of the exhaust tips. It is just those ridiculous looking fog horn exhaust tips that make me want to burst out laughing. The rest of the car is super sweet. Cheers. George.

the ballast resistor is there - just to the right of the p/b booster

and as a far as an additional reinforcing plate on 409 cars that's a myth........

same as the supposed 4 th control arm over the rear axle...........

many hot rodders and racers added them, but they never came from the factory in the X frames

there was nothing particularly different on 409 cars except the size of the fuel line (3/8") and its routing around

the right side a-arm........327 cars had the 3/8" line as well

That car is not Ermine White, it is Adobe Beige. That in turn affects the paint fill colour on the side moldings.

The hubcaps on this car appear to be Chevelle items. The correct hubcaps and optional wheelcovers are shown below. I can't seem to find a decent picture of the correct 1963 wire wheelcovers, but they are different than the 1964 - through.
