1967 Pontiac Parisienne 2+2 purchase opportunity.


Hey guys, I was directed here by another member, and I am just wanting some info on a purchase opportunity.  There is an older guy I know, he is a first/only owner of a Parisienne 2+2.  He is a family friend.  When he saw I bought a 69 GTO clone he asked if i'd be interested in buying his 2+2.  He said he has 4 vehicles and on pension they are expensive to insure/drive.  His 2+2 is one of his daily summer drivers.  I can't find many pictures of them...I have seen some of the 65, but I think the 67's are different.   I haven't looked at it yet (because it's at his other house 3 hours away), but if its like any of his other vehicles it will be in nice shape, and we havent discussed price.  I am wanting to look into this more before I decide if it's worth the trip to see it, and get into discussing price.  Kind of studying up on the cars before I buy.  ANy info would be great as to price (Canadian) for a nice 2+2 hardtop driver, and what to look for as far as the good and the bad.  He said it is something like a turqoise.  And it is a 396.

So I see some headlights up/down and some side by side? Arent the ones above the others the 65 model? I'm just confused is all as you can tell.

Lets see,

A nice, original owner Turquoise 2+2 hardtop, 396. 

Not perfect, but original, with all trim and numbers intact, little or no rust...

$16-18K ?

First and most important, check the frame for rust, or any rust repairs. Bad frame usually means body issues, possibly hidden under plastic.

Price drops as rust presents itself as well as poor bodywork, missing trim, non numbers matching, etc.

I can see how you'd be confused. The one with side by side headlights is actually a '68.

but from what little info I had I thought he was on crack because I thought the earlier ones has the headlights up/down and the 67 had the side by side front bumper look of the lemans/gto/tempest

 thanks for the info.  This Canadian pontiac stuff is messed.  If this doesn't work out then I will be banned from this site.  :)  Owning a 69 custom S just doesn't cut it here :)

Hi Darth, I'm glad to see you made it over here. I should have warned you about a few of the comedians here!

As stated, get pictures of the car. It's understandable if you don't want to post them online for fear of someone figuring out the who/what/where on the the car and scooping it out from under you.

The most important thing about this car would be the documentation. If he is original owner, hopefully he has the original paperwork. If not, it's a good investment to buy the GM Vintage vehicle documents which will confirm colours, options, as well as the original selling dealer etc. One of the most important sources of info outside of the GM stuff is the cowl/firewall tag. Copy down what it says and post it here, we can easily decode it.

 I don't have cold feet really.  More testing the waters.  I just bought the 69 custom S (GOT clone) a few months ago and working on tinkering on that (ask Carl, he will know what i'm talking about:()  It wasn't expensive by any means, but I have to pay that off before looking at the 2+2 unless I get it for a good deal.  Plus i'm running out of garage space, I have 4 cars already.  I am also in no rush, he is the only one that he has offered to sell it to, and it's not up for sale anywhere.  The engine is original, or at least I think.  He said nothing major has been done to it aside from the basic wear and tear repairs.

 

I should try for the Pawn Stars approach.  "I want 15,000" , "Not in my lifetime, I will offer $4000"

Just a quick correction.    US Pontiac 2+2's were made from 1964 - 1967, and Canadian 2+2's from 1967 - 1970.   I think in the US they were Catalina 2+2's, and Canadian ones were Parisienne 2+2's from 1967 - 1969, and in 1970 it was only a 2+2 (no Parisienne).

While 1967 2+2's came in US & Canadian versions, little between the 2 is interchangable.   While both have the louvers on the upper fenders, the louvers are different.   

If you can get some photo's and a bit more info that would allow us to provide a bit more info on value.   I know 1967 Canadian 2+2's were available in a wide variety of engine/transmission combinations, including a number of 6 cylinder cars around.

 once I get more info on it, I will PM you for his info if i decide against it.  It looks nice, but isn't muscle car era enough for me.  More of a cruiser look.  Or buy it to flip it if he gives me the friendship discount :)

Yes, N10 dual exhaust was an option which just seems so wrong on a big block.

.........Ahh, I stand corrected, thanks.  I always thought 66 was the last 2+2 in the USA,   but just did a quick check and yes in 67 it was a option on the car ,  not  it's own model  like the '66, and they dropped the option in 67 due to poor sales.   I actually never seen a 67 american 2+2  !!  





There's a wrecking yard south of me in North Dakota that had a 67 2+2 in it for years. When I first saw the car likely 25 years ago, it still had the trim on it, the 428 fender emblems, but there was a hole where the hood tach had been and the powertrain as well as the 4 speed console were gone. I looked at that car lots...
