  • Description
I have a 1976 lpontiac lemans sports coupe Olympic edition that I need gone it has the small block chev 350 with a 4bbl carb and a mild race cam from the factory, 4-speed transmission and a posi rear differential all that came from the factory, this car is an all original car that really hasn't been touched a lot through its 20+ years of being in our family, now that we realize that we don't have the skills, patience, time, money, more space left to keep this wonderful car and would like for a good person want to do good with what we couldn't...

Would be interesting to see photos of it though. I do believe that 3 speed was standard with the 250 six.

You could get the 250 six with a 3-speed column shift, and I think that in 1976-only you could get a 260 Oldsmobile V8 with a 5-speed Warner T-50 (weak-ish trans.)

edit: I guess Ray posted the spec sheet at the same time I posted. It looks like the Olds 260 wasn't used on the Canadian-built 1976 Lemans.

The ad has a bit of play on words; "mild race cam from the factory" might mean one of Chevrolet's performance small block cams from the Chevrolet Parts Counter, plus "4-speed transmission and a posi rear differential all that came from the factory", well Positraction I could see but the 4-speed, although it came out of a factory somewhere, just not in this car. The current owners have owned it over 20 years which means not from new. It existed perhaps as much as 8 years prior to the current owners, and a previous owner must have swapped stuff into it.

Prior to 1975 Pontiac had been fairly generous with the 4-speed availability, offering it behind 350s & 400s on any Lemans body style including wagons. The 4-speeds went away for a couple of years until it became available on the downsized 1978 models with the 231 Buick V6 or Pontiac 301 2-barrel on many body styles & trim levels.

It would be fun to get the GM docs on this one.

Pictures and a price would make his ad 23% more interesting. Not a good vibe from the description. It's actually a pretty rare car.
