Comparable Rocker Mouldings for a 66 SD Beaumont to 66 Malibu??

Just Picked up a 66 SD Beaumont and am wondering if the rocker trim off of a 66 Malibu is the same (as they are available from OPGI). I can not find real clear pictures but they seem to be closer than what is on the 66 Chevelle.

Anybody have any thoughts on this?? Might be willing to buy any rocker pieces you may have. My car is a pretty clean driver but has Chevelle rocker mouldings that I want to swap out to be correct.

Thanks,

Kevin confuse

Malibu should have smooth ones like an SD where Malibu SS and Super Sport Chevelle have ribbed ones - trouble is SD has quarter panel ones but Malibu doesn't

ya the rear ones are super tough to find-smooth not finned like the ss cars have-you would probably be best to have DT stainless make them up for you cause everybody has been after those forever.

Just checked the OPGI on line catalog and they have a "smooth" extension for the lower rear : part #7639CRS... have a peak and let me know if this looks right.  Not sure myself??

Been in contact with OPGI and it turns out that the part  #7639CRS is a rocker extension for el-camino's which obviously will not work for the SD Beaumont...oh well...the hunt continues for the elusive rear rocker trim.

Ken, do you know for sure that the rockers for the Malibu are the same as SD? Are they the same part number in GM parts books?

Malibu - not Malibu SS or Chevelle Super Sport -- problem is the quarter panel pieces did not come on a Malibu - only Beaumont SD

Get Carl to double check part numbers but last I recall yes same #

with a grain of salt I believe those same parts books call a 67 Super Sport and 67 SD with the 'same' number rocker moldings even though their not - SD has brushed insert, SS has grey/black

Has anybody ever tried altering (trimming) a set of rocker moldings to fit the rear quarters....they are relatively inexpensive. Just wondering if it has been done.  Still looking for a nice close up of the rocker and beltline  trim...come on some with an original 66  SD car has got to have a camera and could take a few good pics to help me out here....anyone??

I haven't seen a link for them but feel free to ask. I have most of GM vehicles covered for parts books from WW II and newer, Chevrolet back farther than that.

One thing you can do is google the part number if you know it. Often Wiki will show you the different parts books it appears in, but if you don't have the number, just holler!

the only pieces I got with the car were the rear quarter ones so it will just be the belt line ones I need now. Carl, thanx for checking out part numbers.

HERE ARE SOME CLOSE UP PICTURES I FOUND FROM A POST ON HERE BEFORE OF THE 66 BEAU REAR EXTENSIONS SOME ONE POSTED

I HAVE A SET OF ORIGINAL 66 MALIBU ROCKERS OUTSIDE SOMEWHERE AND WILL HAVE TO LOOK IF THEY ARE THE SAME OR NOT AS I DON'T REMEMBER THEM HAVING THAT GROOVE???

MY CAR HAS THE 66 SS ROCKERS WHICH HAVE 8 RIBS ALSO 67 ROCKERS HAD ONLY 6 RIBS BUT SOME 67 CHEVELLES CAME WITH BELT TRIM ALSO BUT I THINK IT IS A LOT WIDER AND DIFFERENT PROFILE!!

WAS LOOKING INTO MAYBE THE 64' SS TRIM ON THE TOP OF THE FENDER AND WONDER IF IT IS THE SAME PROFILE AS A 66 BEAU AND COULD JUST BE CUT DOWN FOR THE QUARTER AND FENDER PIECES IF IT IS???

WOULD NEED A CROSS SECTION VIEW OF THE MOLDING TO TELL THOUGH!!

I WILL LET YOU KNOW ABOUT THE ROCKERS AT LEAST,

DALE

Hey Geoff

Thanks for flipping those pictures! How do you do that ? I don't know why the IPad inserted them upside down.

The divot on mine is not painted. I'll try to get some photos but the car is stored inside with no lights so I don't know if they'll turn out.

By the way, my iPhone does the same thing - turning pictures upside down.
