1973 AMC Hornet. Toronto, Ont

I like it. I'm going to go out on a limb and say I feel this car is well worth the asking price esp with all the goodies (tent, literature, promos etc) that go with it. Plus it's different!

Looks like a fussy owner. I agree-it appears he did a good job with the T5 swap.

Yup, I like it too. AMC did make some nice car's with some interesting option packages. I'm actually reading a book about AMC that I down loaded on my Kindle e-reader, so far it's been a very good read. I'm actually in a section talking about the Hornet, just finished the part on the SC/360. Now I'm reading about the Hornet Sport Wagons.

I doubt you would find a better one. The modifications are well done and the detail under the hood is nice to see. 1973 was the 1st year of the hatchback and the last year of the metal rear trim panel & small rear bumpers.

Back in the early 1970s in town there was a dark candy apple green 72 Hornet X Sportabout wagon with factory gold striping. I can't recall if it was a 304 or a 360, but the owner added dual exhausts with chrome tips out the back.

It seems to me that Jim Kenzie, the Star Automotive Journalist, bought a mint 1977 Hornet Hatchback from a fastidious first owner. It was orange with a white vinyl roof & stripes.

Concord. What AMC reduced the Hornet to. Attached is an AMC winterbeater I snapped a couple of winters ago. One bumper sticker says "Honk If You Love Scottish"; another says "Glasgows Miles Better". There was one Oldsmobile wheelcover among the AMC ones. Too sexxy, especially if you like mutton chops and Old Fat Bas****. AMC Scottish Edition.jpg

... or as they in England, Scaramanger!

There can't be too many Hornets around, especially in this shape. You'd be one of the few at a car show.

Remember Bond's Matador?biggrin

Great looking car...

Hornets had their issues with rust, but I know there used to be pretty good fiberglass body panels to replace the parts that rusted bad, I.E. front fenders. Would definitely take a closer look at this if I was in the market..and in Ontario..lol

The Hornet was an innovator of sorts......

-The AMC Hornet was the first U.S. made automobile to feature guardrail beam doors to protect occupants in the event of a side impact.

-The 1973 Hornet hatchback was the first U.S. made compact hatchback,

one year ahead of the 1974 Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Nova hatchback models.

-The 1972 Hornet was notable for being one of the first American cars to offer a special luxury trim package created by a fashion designer

-The new hatchback was available with a Levis bucket seat interior trim option that was actually made of spun nylon fabric, rather than real cotton denim, to comply with flammability standards as well as offer greater wear and stain resistance.

-American Motors' comprehensive "Buyer Protection Plan" warranty was expanded for the 1973 models to cover lodging expenses should a car require overnight repairs when the owner is away from home.[31]

1975 AMC Hornet hatch back, has the factory 304 v8, car is all original and has not been painted before, car needs tires and a muffler and a power polish, car has been in garage since 1991, this is a real solid car ! interior is mint with buckets and factory floor shift.
Dont waste my time in not interested, bring a trailer and we can negotiate.
