71 Acadian Question

Someone posted this question on our Facebook page. Can anyone help?

"Looking for some info on a 1971 Acadian. Vin 714279W455***. From what I have been able to find (which isnt much) only 2dr V8's were available in 71 and production figures anywhere between 440-1200. Anybody have definitive info on this? A neighbor has one that I am thinking of picking up. Has rust in the trunk lid and rear wheel arches. not terrible, rest of car is solid. Its Red with black bucket seat interior. Any help is appreciated.

Well they certainly did offer more than 2-door V8 models. I have seen a 71 Acadian V8 4-door sedan with Custom Exterior & a practically no option 71 Acadian 2-door 6-cylinder. The Acadian was replaced by the Pontiac Ventura II, probably by January or February of 1971. I have both the 1971 Acadian brochure and an original 1971 GM Sweepstakes flyer that was mailed to us sometime in the winter of 1971. Included in that Canadian flyer that featured Canadian GM cars, is the new Pontiac Ventura II. That was my introduction to the Ventura II.

Yes, that is not a 71 VIN if it has been copied correctly.

Looks like a perfect vin for a 1969 Acadian 2 dr. sport coupe.

A 1971 Acadian would be 714271W455***

Thanks
Randy

If you are serious, you could spend the money with GM vintage service and they would tell you how many 2 door v8s were shipped to Canada.

If it is a good price, and it has all of the badges, I would grab it. Everything from a Nova fits. I like the attention my car gets.
