when i bought my Beaumont back in the years it sported high back bucket seats that had been added by the previous owner , that is a real eye sore to me .

That same car was for sale in Calgary back in October 2010. It had just been painted and was for sale at $2200. It was wearing what look like 1972 Lemans wheelcovers. See attachment:

What causes the bondo to crack and pop off like that?
Is it simply too thick? Inadequate surface roughness?
I've only ever seen that when the bondo was applied in a thick layer (<1/8"), but can poor adhesion & extreme temperature do it even with thin layers?
Does it happen suddenly - such as due to an impact at extremely low temps, or do the cracks start as hairlines and expand as the bondo shrinks?

Back up delete would have been chrome plates filling the hole.

I suspect this had some serious rearend damage and bumper was replaced with a chevelle one, because it was all they could get
