  • Description
I have a numbers matching 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 396 big block. Black on black. Lots of pictures upon request. You will be hard pressed to find a nicer 68 Chevelle anywhere. Original engine, 400 turbo transmission which has been recently rebuilt. Zero rust, original quarter panels. The clean black paint really shows how truly straight the car actually is. This one was built in Canada. I drove it about 1000km last summer and won't be able to get it insured again this year due to some pending speeding tickets. This is the only reason I am selling. Plus the wife has some home reno's she would like to spend the money with.

The battery was replaced last year. Over the winter a light must have been left on because the battery is drained, it will need a boost. I have not yet tried to boost the car as I do not want to take it out of my garage until the weather clears up. There is a puncture in the air suspension line so the car droops about an inch lower on one of the rear sides, I have the new part ordered and at my mechanics but did not come around to getting it installed last year. Literally an hour or less job and probably a couple hundred dollars at most which I will take care of when the weather permits. If you have any questions feel free to email me. Thanks

I cannot figure out why in the heck everybody insists on painting their car black. This car was originally "Ash Gold" metallic with gold interior trim and black vinyl top. Now it's just Bland Black with Boring Black interior.
Nice car in need of paint is what I see.

 Here's one person's opinion......(mine)......

I love the combination black on black, throw in a original vinyl top in black and I'd love it more.

Very nice car but the big block does not have a proper intake manifold. This manifold here once had an EGR valve, which only came on SMOG engines. My guess is that the original 396 was replaced with a SMOG 454 engine or at the very least, a SMOG 454 intake was put on. I would have either put the original 396 intake on there or an after market aluminum intake. Just my humble thoughts. Cheers. George.

On the Broadcast sheet he shows there are three engine plant codes, T= Tonawanda, K= St. Catharines Mckinnon, V= Flint.

Which engine(s) were coming from Flint ?

It appears that on this sheet:
The 396 and the only shown 327 2 barrel (250 HP) came from Tonawanda
The 327 4 barrel (275 HP) engines all came from Flint
All the 6 cylinders and all the 283's came from St. Catherines

If I had  39,500.00 plus appraisal and buyers pkg and 5135.00 tax   I would buy a better color    Black has a lifespan of cleanliness of about  4 minutes

Also St. Catherines. I forgot to add them.

Funny Ray, the engine codes were the first thing I looked at on the sheet. I noticed the 3 different plants and looked them up right away. Date codes and production dates are so random when it comes to the Oshawa plant.

 Cheers, Brad

I was interested to see three engine plant codes as well, I could easily understand two with big blocks only coming from Tonawanda but was thrown by that V code for Flint.

I know that in 1969 you will find 350/300 HP engines in big Pontiacs from Tonawanda too.
