Big Block intake probably COPO or Yenko or Dana or Baldwin-Motion lol lol

I went to see if the water level was low enough to get in storage places I have rented    One with Camaro was ok to get in  The other with truck is muddy yet...

I brought this intake manifold down to the house    It seems to read  3883948  date  K 8 7     Should I keep it in case I might need it "someday"

Who was looking for exactly that intake on here just the other day? It was somebody outside of Canada, but I forget who or where. His ad might still be in the wanted section.

Sell it, you're a 66 guy, one of the "club" winkbiggrin

Do you still remember the secret handshake?

K 8 7 should be Oct 8 67 so it's actually a 68 model year intake.

I received a PM from a member telling me I shouldn't have skipped the letter "I", which I thought they did because of the chance of mistaking it for a number "one". In that case, this intake would be Nov 8 67 rather than Oct.

Still learning....!

........pretty sure you're right on skipping 'I' as it can be mistaken for 1....

....read it somewhere.......will check it out.........possibly not skipped in all incidences

Checked with Colvin's Chevy by the numbers and it appears they did use 'I' representing September.

There may be another instance where 'I' is not used.....but I can't find it.

Here is a very interesting excerpt from The Complete Chevrolet V8 engine code pocket guide,

aka - The Lime Book - regarding engine block stampings

"The engine assembly date is typically a three or four digit number, where the first one or two digits

represent the month (I = Jan, 2 = Feb I2= Dec) and the last two digits represent the day of the month

(0I - 3I). It is important to note that the engine plants did not use a character of '1'. They used the 'I'

character to represent a '1'. This is sometime confusing, since the assembly date and the suffix code run together.

As an example, a front pad stamp of 'F4IID' might be mistaken as having a suffix code of 'IID". The actual

suffix code in this case is imply 'D', the 'II' represents the day of the month of engine assembly (11th day)."

Very interesting indeed.

All I can find in the chevy by the numbers 65-69 edition is the carburetors and distributors for not using the letter I. All the rest of the casting's use it.
