wiper motor

Does anyone know if the cowl grille panel has to be out to change the wiper motor , or can I pull it out enough to disconnect it at the firewall.

Getting the wipers off without scratching the cowl is tough.

Thanks

just loosen the 3 screws on the firewall , unplug the motor , pull the motor out a bit and from there you can disconect the arms Under the cowl grill

if my memory serve me right

Thanks for the info

I replaced the motor with a rebuilt one, without removing the cowl.

At first the new motor did not work either, until I moved the wipers a little by hand to 'kick start' it a bit ,I think it was seized a little.  Worked great for about 10 min  , then stopped working too. Rebuilt junk I think - it is going back.

As you take it out try running it with just the motor hooked up ( ie the linkage unhooked ). That way you'll know if its the motor or whether the linkage is binding somehow.
