1968 Beaumont, PEI

I met the owner of this car yesterday. Really nice guy. He did a frame off restoration to the car. He's a little perplexed. He sent the VIN off to George at Vintage Vehicle Services and he got a note back saying "VIN Unknown" confuse

Maybe it's a pilot car! smile

Car came from out West.

1968 Pontiac Beaumont Canadian-built car. New motor, transmission, all drive train, upgraded brakes to disc. Small block 400HP 3 speed turbo. Way too many new parts to mention. Runs like a new car. NO test pilots.
May trade for something interesting like older Camaro or Harley.

That would drive me nuts, needs to follow up with George on the VIN to get to the bottom of that.

with no record of the VIN already established...........it just might open up a Pandora's box that may be better closed.

vin written/read wrong, punched wrong or sloppy? 6 instead of an 8 as an example.

American chevelle vin ? Love to see the cowl tag and vin numbers. See if the vin started with a 7 or a 1. Maybe rebodied some time in the past ?  This sure would be driving me nuts if I owned that car. Heck its driving me nuts now !!!

As usual I have to bit my tongue    (If I was allowed) I would wonder why a frame off restoration at 28,500.00 is so far off from original?

whoops I know whats wrong...  I am wrong   A frame off restoration does not mean original    thats it !    problem solved

I wish these fellows well   I have had better cars, and had trouble getting 10g less than that...    theres still no market out there...

Whether  the car is rebodied, or a Chevelle, or what ever...   it should have a VIN that refers to a actual car....

I e-mailed George last week about a project I have, and he responded within minutes, and sent me info "the next day"

Suggest to the seller to e-mail George....

I asked him to send me a pic of the cowl tag. When he found the car it had been sitting in a garage for years. It was partially apart and painted yellow. He says it's a Beaumont Custom and it appears the bucket seats are factory installed. He said the VIN on the original 307 matches the VIN on the dash (he sent a pic of the VIN on the dash to George). He knew about the VIN on the frame so I assume it matched too. He's a busy guy who runs his own business so it may be a while before (or if) I hear back from him.
