Now that is a Cool engine.

A friend had one in about 1980 and had a very tough time getting even a gasket set for it. Maybe they're reproducing parts now, but back then it took him months to find the gasket set and had to trade parts to get it. The guy who had them wasn't interested in selling - only interested in "interesting" trades. Can't remember what the guy ended up trading, but I recall he wasn't happy about it.

Still, very cool engines.

A buddy had an original Boss 9 car back in the early 80's. The motor had a bent valve and he couldn't be bothered to fix it. So he sold it to a guy for $1000.

The kicker is, he's a mechanic.

He says he wants to swap for a 427 SOHC engine.  I would imagine the 427 SOHC is worth alot more than the Boss 429.

They made more 427 SOHC's than Boss 9's. And boy if I had the money what I could do with that. .....there's nothing wrong with them older Ford products especially pre-'70 . You have to admit they did make some real neat stuff.

That surprises me as I don't think the 427 SOHC's were ever offered in a production car.  Strictly a race only motor.

My neighbour has a Boss 9 Mustang that he just drove over to check on his barns. It was at Bothwell.
