Is the vin available? Would be helpful in narrowing down the odds of it being a 396.

There is no use. I know the guy, and he wants "a lot" of money for all his cars.

As usual. Let me guess, he's gonna restore it...someday. Hoarder mentality.

Auto on the tree; 396 bench seat car ?? There is one of those here in London. Been in the same family since 67 or 68 . Never winter driven. Was freshened up a couple of years ago. I believe it  was a frame  off.

It has been picked over pretty well, what a shame. Somebody's GOT TO save it!

Cowl tag is missing, but if it can be verified with solid Vintage Vehicle Services documentation the cowl tag isn't as critical. A place called Trim Tags could probably make another tag (which is not illegal except in Kansas). I wonder if it was removed for safe keeping, a tag collector got it, or perhaps someone had other nefarious plans?

Now a v.i.n. tag is another story; IF the VIN tag is missing the car will be impounded and the police would look for any concealed VIN numbers around the body & on the frame. At best with that scenario it would then receive a government issued tag (a kiss of death on resale for a car like this). Or the car could be ordered destroyed if there is something hinkey.
