1986 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 Hatchback--Very Rare very limited production run for that year and model.

This is a rare survivor car which is in remarkable condition.
No E-Test ever required again. Very cheap to insure as a classic.

These cars had a really respectable 0-60 mph times in their day with the 2.8 litre V6 fuel injected car.
The car was just safetied at the beginning of the summer.

I am asking $2900.

Please make a descent offer.

I was never a fan of the hatchback on those but I loved the little coupe. We had a loaded coupe in the show room, same colour as this one, shortly after I started at the dealership I'm at. I loved the styling of it, and the next generation as well, like the 90-92 Z24's. My farm (field) car is a 91 Z24. I was tearing the tar out of it again tonight, 385,000 KM on the original, never opened 3.1 automatic. I sold it new to the fellow and he gave it back to me a few years ago, told me to have fun with it!

The only new car I ever purchased was an 89 Cavalier RS. It had the 2.8 and a 5 speed. Good little car.

In 1986 a guy who lived down the street from me had a red on black 67 chevelle ss396 4-speed (orig owner) he traded it in on a blue 86 z24 notchback, he got $3000 trade in against his new $15,000 car -- in later years he told me the z24 was a far better car overall - he never repainted it even once, it was superior on fuel, performance was similar, the car was more reliable, he never scrapped the inside windows ! The one thing he did say was that when the chevelle was 19 years old he got almost as much as he paid for it new on trade in but when the z24 was 19 years old it was worthless ----- please that all with a grain of salt

I thought they were a neat car for the money at the time - they really took off in sales when the 88 body style came out

Yep. My golden age of working at a dealership was from 88-91. I was at Eastown Chev-Olds-Caddy in London Best time of my life (I was 19). I was the shop dispatcher/warranty clerk. In those days if an ECM needed an update you had to order a PROM chip. I remember my Cavalier needed a PROM as the idle would hunt after a long highway drive. The J cars were relatively problem free. Now the "new" Lumina was another story! The service department was always busy. I remember we hired two really pretty girls to work as hostess' in the drive through. Those were the days

The bosses hired good looking girls at CTC in 86/87 when I was there and 91-95 when I was at a GM dealer --- there was a method to the madness - they felt customers were less likely to yell at a woman when not satisfied

Nope, this one just gets tortured, won't ever be restored! The one rear strut has no metal for the top mount about 3 inches in any direction. I had to rip the strut off, it was rubbing on the back tire...

With a grain of salt remember

anyway - these were a 16 second car - my 67 SD396 auto went 15.26 at 91 mph stock

$3,000 for a regularly driven driver 19 year old chevelle with several body jobs was typical money back in 86

we all prefer the chevelle
