Not a pontiac but a relative.

Came across this one today. I've never seen this body style before. Quite a nice looking car. That rear end is quite interesting.

.....has a couple of nice options too. The steering wheel 60-61 was sometimes used in old streetrods of the day.

What year did GM start selling Oldsmobiles in Canada? I thought it was 1964.

...GM bought out Oldsmobile in 1908, so they were probably sold here since. I know there are 1930's olds made in canada so early ones too probably. Oldest one I have is a 1960 in my graveyard.

My father bought a 1964 Olds F85 & he claimed it was the first year the Olds was available - prior to that, they were imported from the U.S. It could be that it was the first year there was a dealer in that area. Long time ago and I wasn't shopping for new cars back in '64.
I know there were Oldsmobiles sold in the USA since the early 1900's - I'm not aware of any that were sold new in Canada prior to '64. Unless maybe a dealer brought one in on a special order?
I'm curious now. I'll have to do some checking.

My grandfather had a late 50's Olds, but he bought in Washington.

I know my 36 Olds was built in Canada. There may be an old post on here somewhere that shows the Data Plate

a buddy of mine dad always drove new Oldsmobile Super 88's. Always 2 tone green hardtops. I know he had a 52, 53 & 55. These cars were all sold new in Forest, ON.

Worked with a guy who owned a 57 Super 88 with the 3 carbs  J-2 option. Bought in Sarnia, ON. Was a dealer demonstrator

Must have been a local dealership issue. I know that pre-'64 Oldsmobiles were almost unheard of in SE BC where I grew up. One or two 50's Oldsmobiles in the area, one '62 or '63 F85, but it was a lawn ornament as long as I can remember and I am pretty sure it came into the area from the USA. There were lots of '64's, a few '65 through '67's then from '68 on they were very common.

Likely a local Oldsmobile dealership opened in '63 or '64 and they became available in the area.

In the 50's and early 60's they had some truly unique styling features.

The one my grandfather had was similar to the Holiday Coupe above, except his was red & white. I believe he bought it in Spokane, Washington. No idea what ever became of it.
