61 bucks? Wow, last week I got $180 a ton for a 92 pickup....

 Well the further west you go the cars are worth less and less.  I think it was around 1700 lbs. so that is alot less than your prices and I think these guys are the best paying in town.  Copper was $2.58 a lb. for us though.

 Didn't think you could still get that old girl airborn! Scrap went from 240 to 170 ton on the island in the last 4 months, so 1700lbs@60 is awlfull low. If you take off the tires and remove the tank ( or punch big hole ) they pay more here.

The place I haul to was at $190 most of the summer, just dropped to $180. I don't have to remove tires (limit of 5 per vehicle), nor do I have to touch the gas tank.

Still $180/ton this morning when I hauled in some sort of old Honda that had been there through 3 floods.
Batteries 30 cents a pound, clean aluminum (radiator core with tanks removed) was 50 cents a pound.
