98,000km, and yes, it's missing a pedal but it's momma's daily driver and although she is great with 3 pedals, for every day driving she prefers an auto.

You must have been peeking, I was just on Discount Tire and Tire Rack's websites taking a look to see what's there! Likely 17's.

Do you have a G8?

Nope. Looks like an affordable sleeper though. I think that sedan is better looking than the Aussi GTO. How about some exhaust cut outs for a little "car guy"enjoyment. My friend has them on his Masseratti. They are adjustable.  Music to the ears!

I was hoping you did. I want to find someone who has put 17's on for the winter, to know what fits and what won't.

Best part of all, it's a Pontiac!

Well, AND I can justify it because it's a family car too...

Nice......l 2009 last of the Pontiacs, we tested a couple of 2005/ 06 GTO's last yr in Az.

The GTO has the 400 HP LS2 not the 6.0 L L76 but man these cars are a hoot to drive.

Was considering an LS2/ 4L80E swap in my 69 Beaumont, talked out of it, but still think it would have been a good fit.

We drove both the std and man 6 spd, I see the G8 only comes auto with variable valve timing

active fuel management and stabilizing control, lots of modern goodies. Should be a solid ride.

Go to the Tire Rack website and enter your cars data. It will recommend the tire size you need. They have product reviews as well from customers. Nice car. I spent some time in a friends G8 a few years ago Really liked it!

The funny thing in all this is how anti-LS engine I am. I love the LT1's but I've never wanted an LS Firebird. I had no choice now though. I wanted a V8 rear drive again, and the selection is a bit slim if you want a GM.

I thought of a Caddy but they are for the rich folk...........(Right Geoff???)

Why are you anti-LS Carl? They are pretty good motors.

odd bolt pattern   same as BMW   5-120      Impala e.g. is 5-115

BMW 3-series, Z-series, X-series are supposed to be the correct offsets to match the G8. Just always make sure you swap over at least an 18", and at least a +35 to +48 offset (width depending), unless you want your wheels to poke.

The thing is, I want to go to 17's because what I save on the winter tires between 17" and 18" will almost pay for new wheels.

The G8 offset is 48.

heres a note on using CTS rims

The 2009 CTS has a 17x8 wheel, offset is 48, which is the same as out factors wheels, only fitment problem may come with the 17" wheel size clearing the caliper. I know 17s fit on the back but not sure on the front. They should but not 100%.

17" wheels will fit standard V6 and GT brakes. I run a 17" setup for winter.

I don't know much about them, but are they Australian Holden based?   Kind of an overgrown Australian GTO?

Holden based, yes, built in Australia.

I have a LOT to learn about them myself.

Nice car Carl. You'll have to take us for rides at the next coffee night. I think you'll like the LS motor. All they need is clean oil and will live forever. And in this day and age they are Old School, who else still runs 2 valve push rod motors?

Did you ever find "snows" for the new ride? Just wondering if it has traction control which would be huge in you part of the world.
