Nice find Rog, sure looks clean in the usual rust spots and all complete. I see the keys in the ignition, clean the points, throw in a bat, hook up some fuel and go for a drive nod.gif Once your back is better of course, been there not fun was off work for three weeks a few years back and had to roll off the couch onto the floor to get up. Walked around like I was 90 all hunched over.

I LOVE IT. Is that ever a sweet find. Interesting that your 57 came with electric wipers, not many did. Here is to hoping that you keep that tried and true work horse 261 where it belongs. Other than the electric wipers and the oil filter, are there any other optional accessories on your 57. Sweet time machine and good luck with getting her back on the road.............. where she belongs. Cheers. George.

Well, that is exactly what we did last Friday,  Bigsteve called 'shop night' , and we had about twelve  guys come over and get at er!

I drained the tank, fresh oil, bigsteve filed the points, as there was no spark... disconnected the line at the carb,,pumped it into a can...few drinks down the carb... And kaboom!

afer 12 years of nothing...had er purring within 2 minutes of running, the lifters quieted down,  it even kicks out of fast idle.

tackle the brakes in the am,  the peddle is at the top and rock hard.. I'll start with the master.

awesome time,  all the guys helping like that,  true car guys !!

Pulled the master cylinder apart...cleaned up the bore and seals...ahhhhh..brakes ...somewhat...good enough for now.

next will be to free up the shifter..can't seem to engage 1 and reverse?   Once it warms up...

here are some better pics..  Shows 54'000 miles.. Oil change sticker was 1961 and 41'000 miles..  Can we assume this car sat since the mid 60's?   Rubber floor mat is in great condition .

neat car...

I'm trying to figure out how to get video from the ipad to the site?

Roger, i love that sweet 57 Pontiac of yours just the way it sits. Congrats on getting her running after all those years of sitting. Try doing that with today's modern junk. Continued  good luck with your 57 Pontiac time machine. Cheers. George.

Love the car! The finish reminds me of mine. I would just "stabilize" whatever damage or rust there is and then semi-gloss clear it. Beautiful ... my new favourite Rabbit car!smile

What a neat car!  Looks like the body has held up well.  Certainly wouldn't see that on a car sitting out east.

It's cool to see one that survived the years a little worn but basically original.  A nice car to save.

Played around the last couple of days prepping the intake and cast header.  Still need to pick two carbs and rebuild them , have the kits already.   blasted and hit the  intake with diamond clear,  and the header with ceramic white...let's see how they hold up.
