1968 beaumont 2 dr post transform 2 dr hardtop


Hi  sorry for my english       I would like to  confirm before to buy a 68 beaumont   if I remouve ( change doors ) on 68 beaumont  the  dr post  and i fix 2 dr hardtop  and I change the side glass ,  Do I have to change the track for the side glass.  and  Do I have to change the post . Can the transformation be done ???

The 1968 2 dr. post is a very desirable car. It would be a travesty to cut it up and make a hardtop. There are structural issues with doing this as well. I would encourage you to not attempt this.

I don't think you have to worry about offending these guys Martin, they have thick skin but they are saying most people would be content with the post car and it wouldn't be worth the effort and so on to change it. Having said that I talked to a guy awhile ago that took a 65 Beaumont 4 door and made some cuts and splices and ended up with a 2 door hardtop. I never got a chance to see it as he lives less than an hour down the road from me but he said it went together way easier than he expected it to. He obviously had some parts cars to come up with the components but it can be done if a person's mind is set on it.

I have a body shop and I like to transform . I transform this truck 1946 International kb pickup . International never bilt this cab over with this model kb . I think I can change 2 dr post on 2 dr harttop . but I know the 2dr post is desirable Original You have reason .I try to found a hardtop.

I think both the 1965 (L79) & 1968 (L78) Chevelle or Beaumont, is one of the nicest years, in a 2 door post.
- the look just screams, of a muscle car sleeper (L79, 327-350HP / L78, 396-375HP)

Nice work Martin.

I'm not afraid of cutting up a car to make what I want, however I do make a point of not cutting up a good car.

If you have a post car and want to build a hardtop go for it. If I recall correctly though is that hardtop cars had a bit more bracing through the roof to offer more structural strength and collision protection to compensate for the lack of a B pillar.

I've only ever owned hardtops so can not say for certain that my previous statement is 100% correct. But it would make sense.
